Junior AI Engineer (Internship)

Now we are seeking a hands-on Junior AI Engineer (Intern) to join the European business arm of SSS Systems Solutions.

Collaborating with the System Solutions Engineering Manager and the other team members, you will participate in developing Computer Vision and AI algorithms for edge devices over various applications.

You will work with Technical Managers to understand customer requirements and propose suitable CV/AI pipelines to meet the needs of the target application and its use cases. You will be working on CV/AI algorithm proposals including the selection of models and training sets and work with your team of developers to model and optimise the proposed pipelines.

The first projects will revolve around the new generation of IMX500-enabled cameras developed by Sony, a sensor explicitly designed for privacy-preserving applications. Its hardware can process the acquired images through an AI inference engine embedded in the sensor instead of sending them to an external server (edge computing). This technology allows the implementation of new strategies for intelligent planning and real-time monitoring and forecasting of traffic, unsafe situations and more.

You will:

• You will generate and develop AI models, and test, transform and adapt them to our IMX500 camera.
• Create solutions for edge AI devices in the context of "Smart City" and "Smart Retail" projects
• Take care of the selection and use ML Ops solutions for AI projects
• You will collaborate closely with embedded software engineers to further optimise proposed pipelines for embedded deployment.
• You will also contribute towards benchmarking and evaluating implementations both on PC and embedded platforms and ensure that the proposed solution meets the required performance.
• You will team up with multi-functional and multi-cultural teams both in Europe and Japan.

You will have:

• Academic background in AI with a related BSc degree or equivalent experience.
• A strong understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Vision and AI (i.e., image signal processing, feature extraction, pattern recognition, classification, deep neural networks).
• Hands-on experience applying Computer Vision and AI to a range of use cases.
• Experience using TensorFlow, TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, and CVAT.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Passion for technology plus a pragmatic demeanour to deliver
