Start IT – Assistant Data Scientist

Part of the Start IT program is a 6-12 weeks rotation to another Key IT-site (Asia, Europe or Americas) where you will experience the meaning and gain the understanding around international collaboration in a corporate environment.

We are looking for post-graduates who will build mathematical models and machine learning algorithms to give insights through Real World Data by combining a profound understanding of Roche business and frontier of academic research.

As the advanced analytics engine in Roche, we facilitate collaboration among industry and academia to advance the data-driven decision supporting. We aim to revolutionize personalized health care through Real World Data, comprehensive statistical & mathematical modelling and high-performance computing/big data solutions.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Research comprehensive statistical and mathematical algorithms across business contexts including research and commercial
  • Investigate available tools and technologies in machine learning and deep learning
  • Analyze and perform hands-on mathematical modelling and machine learning activities by using cutting edge IT tech
  • Support collaboration with third parties including academia and industry

Who you are:

  • You have a Doctor degree with a strong focus on mathematics, statistics or computer science  
  • You are able to solve problems by using machine learning or deep learning techniques with hands-on experience of end-to-end delivery
  • You have demonstrated knowledge in mathematical modelling, e.g., Optimizing techniques, Solving ODE/PDE/SDE by numerical methods, being familiar with Geometry or Quantum Physics
  • You are experienced in working with various data sets, e.g., Electric Healthcare Records, Genomic Data and other types of Real World Data
  • You are proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: R, MatLab or Python
  • You can present your results/insights by using Markdown/Latex
  • Experience of modelling in the area of biomedical sciences or healthcare will be preferred
  • Experience of high-performance computing by using GPU or Quantum Computing will be preferred
  • You are a quick learner and passionate about continually adapting your skills and knowledge
  • You can work in the interdisciplinary area and can interpret and translate the very abstract and technical approaches to a healthcare and business relevant solution
  • You are a strong team player and can work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • You have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with different teams and parties of the organization, such as business, technical and academic partners
  • You are fluent in English with preferably an additional language
