Data Science Intern

At Mailchimp, our internship program focuses on giving our interns opportunities to get hands-on experience and contribute to real-world business projects alongside our full-time peeps. Over the years, we've had the privilege to bring on some of the brightest, most talented students from around the world to help grow our brand. Mailchimp designed our 12 week paid internship program to help students grow their skillset, create lasting connections, and do meaningful work. Along with helping our interns grow professionally, we're also committed to their personal growth and provide various soft skill classes while also hosting fun events along the way!

Our program is open to students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, bootcamp, and online courses - all candidates must be enrolled through the duration of the program. 

This role is based in Georgia and any candidates who accept an offer for this position is expected to reside in the state of Georgia throughout the duration of the internship.

Start Dates: May 16th & June 6th

The Data Science team builds applications that make sense of the data created by Mailchimp’s millions of users. We use cutting-edge machine learning models, advanced natural language processing and image processing, to save our users time, increase their productivity and make them better marketers. We help them improve targeting and boost marketing and revenue using smart recommendations,  create smarter and on-brand content, reach the right audience, and improve campaign performance with our data-driven tools.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed, aspiring data scientist who believes in demonstrating how data can be used to help our customers. You love new challenges, but you're skeptical of the new hotness. You’ve run analyses using various tools, but you're partial to Python. Communication and cross-validation are tools you use every day. 

What you'll do:

• Work alongside other data scientists to develop analytical techniques
• Hands on experience ideating, prototyping, and shipping data science features that solve problems for our users
• Perform analyses to learn from our data and communicate key findings to stakeholders
• Work to improve data integrity and mitigate bias in Mailchimp and data systems
• Embrace and demonstrate our values: humility, creativity, and independence

We'd love to hear from you if you have some or all of the following:

• Are a student working towards a degree in a quantitative or technical field
• Development experience working with Python
• An understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques
• Experience in database systems (SQL or NoSQL)
• Experience with Cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS...)
• Ability to communicate methods and results of analyses

Bonus points if you have:

• A unique background or expertise that gives you perspective into marketing or design
