Are you our dynamic Senior Data Analyst? You will build statistical models, drive actionable insights, and tackle high-impact business problems. You will tell the story behind your insights – painting a picture to our cross-functional partners, explaining what the numbers are telling us, and recommending new and enhanced product features and A/B tests for implementation.  

The Sr Data Analyst partners with stakeholders on the Doc Optimization team and will manage multiple experiments to help Product Managers understand the usage of our product in order to optimize the user experience on Course Hero's website. The goal of the team is to optimize students’ experience utilizing the information on documents and easily get unstuck by finding useful material or getting their questions answered by tutors. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of AB tests. You will need to help the PMs to establish hypotheses, choose the unit of randomization, define success metrics, and provide detailed test design all the way to evaluate and explain why certain metrics are up or down. Most importantly, you will be able to see beyond the data and translate data findings into business insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Create the ideal experiment design that can answer questions both on user level as well as on doc level by Identifying the right unit of randomization 
  • Uncover truth, identify patterns and trends on user product engagement and conversions on documents
  • Create reports and dashboard and deliver actionable data insights that identify student pain points in order to increase user engagement 
  • Be a key cross-functional contributor across Product, Ops, Engineering, TechOps, and Marketing

  • Define and regularly monitor KPIs, success metrics, and highlight insights to optimize our user experience across all platforms
  • Lead the analytics roadmap for one of our core business units
  • Set up and evaluate A/B tests results and push forward next steps at a rigorous pace
  • Deliver reports and strategic insights through analysis and manual data extractions from various ad platforms, data tools, and internal tracking to drive OKRs
  • Size the value of different product strategies and initiatives
  • Effectively communicate findings to internal and external team members
  • Manage research, development, and delivery of analytical models to be used for strategizing and testing new product enhancements and features

Are you our next Senior Data Analyst?

  • BS/BA degree in Statistics, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience conducting quantitative product/business analysis
  • Highly proficient with SQL and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) and at least one scripting/statistical language (R, Python preferred)
  • Create analytical frameworks to measure team success: partner with cross-functional teams to define success metrics, create approaches to track the data and troubleshoot errors, quantify and evaluate the data, then develop a common language for all colleagues to understand these KPIs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You are able to establish causal relationships and meaningful insights using statistical methodologies and data
  • Hands-on experience with experimentation, including design, implementation, and methodologies (e.g. hypothesis testing and regression analysis) for analyzing and interpreting results to stakeholders
  • Experience with statistical modeling using R (tidyverse, ggplot2,dplyr etc.) or Python with packages such as pandas, statsmodels, and scikit-learn
  • Experience in querying and manipulating raw datasets for analysis
  • Comfortable functioning in spaces with high ambiguity and adapt easily to changing environments

Bonus Points:

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Information System & Management, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related quantitative field
  • You understand end-to-end user journeys for web platforms and the challenges of managing user funnels that have multiple attribution touchpoints
  • Previous experience in the field of education or e-commerce
