The Vice President of Data Analytics oversees the Data Analytics function. He/she will lead the development of Curology’s analytics strategy and act as an advisor to the CEO and senior management to provide key insights and analysis. In addition, he/will be expected to make recommendations to improve business results and partner with senior business leaders to solve business problems. He/she will also produce insightful reporting and coach a team of data analytics professionals. The Vice President of Data Analytics will also drive greater understanding and transparency of business drivers, highlight key trends, and act as a resource for improving data competency throughout the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop the roadmap for and lead an innovative analytics organization that leverages data insights to serve in an advisory capacity to the CEO, CFO, and senior management
  • Solidify the role of analytics as partners to internal customers
  • Partner with business leaders across all verticals and functions (product, marketing, operations, finance, etc.) to proactively determine how data and insights can advise and support their goals
  • Effectively manage and grow the existing team – continually develop skills, exposure, and responsibility of current staff, and provide long-term career growth opportunities
  • Recruit, energize, and grow talent across the team to foster an environment of collaboration and agility
  • Partner with CFO to continually evaluate the structure of the analytics team and ensure optimal alignment with the structure and needs of the business
  • Contribute to the overall Curology strategy by providing empirical data and insights that will support overall strategic decision-making
  • Partner with department leads to develop innovation and pilots for initiatives and projects that have an impact on growth, retention, and customer experience
  • Gain and maintain strong knowledge of emerging/disruptive technologies, and advancement in data, data services, data warehousing, data analytics, across compliance and relevant markets
  • Deliver periodic readouts on KPI’s and Business Performance, opportunities, and issues for use by the Executive Team as well as other key business partners
  • Manage and maintain the complete delivery cycle of analytics deliverables, including integrated dashboards and ad-hoc requests
  • Develop financial models to forecast the impact of internal actions and external factors on Curology’s KPIs
  • Leverage historical data and predictive models to identify key historical factors that impact key KPIs, and recommend actions to drive future performance

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in data strategy and/or analytics roles at a consumer-focused company
  • Experience defining and implementing data strategies, and leading multi-faceted analytics organizations
  • Desire to roll-up-the-sleeves and implement best practices, processes, and structures to amplify the outputs of the team
  • Demonstrated competency in translating data into actionable insights that help define strategic direction, provide clear insights and inform decisions
  • Hands on experience in developing A/B testing frameworks, experimental design, sampling methods and statistical analysis/hypothesis testing
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment that regularly integrates with multiple stakeholders including business leaders, strategy teams, data engineering, etc.
  • Highly developed communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) with the ability to story-tell using data and influence executive leadership
  • High proficiency in SQL and Database navigation
  • Proficient in visualization tools such as Tableau and strong use of Excel
  • Prior experience presenting insights from data to Senior Management and Business Partners
  • Five or more (5+) years’ supervisory or management experience
  • Proactive, ownership mindset with strong desire to have impact on the business

Preferred Requirements

  • MBA and/or advanced degree in business intelligence or related field of study
  • Hands-on experience in developing A/B testing frameworks, experimental design, sampling methods, and statistical analysis/hypothesis testing
  • Testing, experimental design, and measurement experience in large complex business infrastructure, complicated business use cases, and cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience developing the data governance program for an organization and ensuring adoption through engagement with and identification of data owners, stewards, and senior leaders across the organization.
  • Prior experience creating financial models for the purposes of Return on Investment (ROI) and Business Forecasting.
  • Must be flexible to work weekends as necessary
  • Travel requirements: <25%
