Head of Data - Logistics

About the Role
Logistics is the fastest-growing service at Gojek. As the Head of data for Logistics, you will be in the driving seat to create transformational changes in the business. Your main objective will be to ensure the growth and success of the Logistics business by leveraging and utilizing vast amounts of data.  You will be working closely with the Business, Product, and Engineering leadership to create asymmetric value using data science, machine learning and statistical tools. 

What You Will Do

• Create a strategic vision for the data team that motivates and inspires the team to deliver high-impact solutions to pressing problems
• Use your experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, distributed systems to develop these systems, work with the platform team to take the systems to production
• Work with Business teams to continuously refine, improve the systems to cater to ever-changing Gojek needs
• Design and develop world-class Data Science solutions to the efficiency and customer experience of our Logistics services and offerings.
• Manage and run a team of analysts who will be supporting in business decision making, ensure the analytical rigor of the analysis.

What You Will Need

• 8+ of working experience as a Data Scientist/ Machine Learning Engineer, with a solid understanding of Data Science and Machine Learning fundamentals, taking Data Science models into production.
• Experience in managing at least a small size team (3-4 ppl) and being a part of decision making of strategic science & analytics road-maps in a company
• A large degree of pragmatism and proven ability to be hands-on when needed
• Experience in Python, R, Golang/Java, Unix; along with knowledge of good software design principles and TDD
• Working knowledge of Cloud-based solutions (GCP/ AWS), Stream Data Processing Frameworks (Beam), and mature Deep Learning frameworks (Tensorflow/ Pytorch, etc)
• Proven experience in understanding Business needs, formulating Data Science solutions to solve business problems
• Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation
• Ability to set up processes to manage a team of more than 10 Data scientists and analyst
• Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics or similar fields
• Plus - Past experience in Combinatorial optimization tools and techniques

Our Logistics team is a family of 80 people made up of business, engineers, product managers, product designers and marketing folks based across Jakarta, Bangalore, and Singapore. The Logistics business to Gojek means providing the nourishment to sustain our business from the inside out; providing and solving the first mile and last mile solutions with strategic insights - Demand generation, supply, promotions and campaigns to improve the revenue growth. In short, we keep things moving. Our main responsibility is to build and manage business strategy for the wider Gojek Logistics Platform. Our team is led by a passionate foodie who loves Irvin’s snacks. We work hard and play hard and take pride in what we do!
