The Role 
One Concern is growing rapidly and we are looking for a passionate, mission-driven Data Science Manager to join our team. You'll lead a team of data scientists and partner with engineering teams to guide the development of event response features. 
Reporting into the Director of Data Science, you'll combine strategy, execution, management, and leadership to drive adoption and growth of our technology. We seek an innovative, strategic, high-empathy leader, who can steer the team towards expectations as we continue to mature and grow our solution offerings.

What You’ll Do

  • Guides the strategy and its execution of one or more teams across multiple projects or workstreams on a six to twelve month roadmap
  • Drives impactful outcomes in the face of significant organizational and technical ambiguity and change
  • Cultivate the development of your team and strategically partner with product, program and engineering
  • Increasingly optimizing for the wider org and driving cross data science initiatives to impactful outcomes outside my normal area of scope
  • Drive business outcomes through expertise in data science as well as through strong relationships, management and cross functional influence
  • Guide the team to impactful results by setting strategy that is aligned with the org and business
  • Create an environment that empowers the teams to deliver at a high level of impact by building, organizing, and motivating well-balanced, diverse teams with a strong sense of belonging.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate degree in an engineering or science related field, including Civil and Environmental Engineering, Data Science, and Statistics
  • 3+ years of experience within catastrophe modeling, hazard modeling, risk management, analytics or in a similar field
  • 2+ years experience in building and managing a team of data scientists
