Atomwise is seeking a Business Data Analyst to guide the largest AI-based drug discovery effort in history. You will lower the barriers to drug discovery and enable faster discovery of better therapies. Join us in transforming how new medicines are built. The Business Data Analyst will help us take our incredibly successful AIMS program to the next level by parsing project data to improve our processes and select more successful projects. Our team is our most valuable asset. As a Data Analyst, you’ll be asked to develop operational plans that leverage modern tools to report metrics such as cycle times, citation rates, patent licensing probability, and predicted deal values. You will use business, marketing, and experiment datasets to identify how we can reduce the time needed to review proposals, deliver compounds, and evaluate scientific data from our partners. You will work cross-functionally with scientific and partnering teams to recognize patterns in all kinds of scientific and competitive landscape data.  You will deliver presentations that provide actionable insights and enable decision-making for team members at all levels across the company.

The ideal candidate enjoys digging deep to find potentially impactful insights in raw data, and communicating that information to technical and non-technical audiences. This role will allow you to develop your skills while supporting the discovery of breakthroughs that aim to improve human health. Effective communication, inquisitiveness, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills are essential. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain performance monitoring processes for our AIMS program
  • Ensure that data entry for biological assays is accurate and complete using Salesforce, Excel, and CDD Vault
  • Collaborate with R&D and partnering teams to design, build, and maintain analytical models and data pipelines to enable informed decisions
  • Create dashboards that report on the health of Atomwise’s business and provide regular reporting on key performance indicators using tools such as Google Sheets, Excel, Python (pandas, matplotlib), SQL, and Looker
  • Synthesize key results and present actionable insight to team members at all levels

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, natural or applied sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in data management or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 1-year experience or education in molecular biology, chemistry, or drug discovery 
  • 1-year experience processing a wide range of data types using Google Sheets or Excel
  • Strong understanding of basic statistics such as linear regression and simple hypothesis testing
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented
  • Track record of presenting data and analyses to non-technical and technical audiences
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
  • A can-do attitude, no task is too small

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience performing research in chemistry, biology or engineering
  • Knowledge of the small-molecule drug discovery process
  • Experience working with Salesforce
  • Previous experience with SQL, Python, R, Looker, and/or web-based visualization tools such as Plotly and Dash
