Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning Infrastructure

ASAPP’s Machine Learning Infrastructure team is seeking an enterprising, talented and curious software engineer. This role will help us scale our machine learning capabilities across the many ML services that form the core of our platform. The ML Infrastructure team creates and maintains our ML training framework, data pipelines / tools, model management, experiment management and does a host of other things to make ASAPP successfully deliver ML services with the scale that is needed. This role will be focused on our training framework and experiment management, and help us build tools to support automated evaluation of ML models, make the training process more efficient and allow for more rapid experimentation.

What you'll do

• Develop python-based frameworks and tools that make our ML teams more productive
• Work closely with NLP / Speech researchers and engineers to understand their needs and support them 
• Work with our Platform, SRE and Data Infrastructure teams to architect and build tools for accelerating ML training and experimentation 
• Follow advancements in AI and ML, and participate in discussions about them with the ML and research teams

What you'll need

• Production experience with Python. Proven skill at debugging complicated systems and writing solid test cases to ensure their stability.
• Experience implementing technical solutions, tackling tough engineering problems to help build our products. You enjoy solving complex engineering problems working closely with the Product team to achieve business goals.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science, technology, engineering or math, or equivalent hands-on experience 
• Desire to learn new things, work closely with peers from different teams, and open to teach and learn from others
• Passion for Machine Learning and solving problems

What we'd like to see

• Particularly interested in Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing
• Eager to learn about deep-learning frameworks like PyTorch, and tools like Athena and Redshift
• Experience working on AWS, using Terraform and familiarity with CI / CD tools like Jenkins and Spinnaker
• Knowledge of additional languages such as SQL, Go, Javascript, or Typescript are not necessary but will help you work in cross-functional teams.
