Leader: Director, Data Governance

As Brightside's next Data Scientist you create value out of data. You will use scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. You will use the most powerful hardware, the most powerful programming systems, and the most efficient algorithms to solve problems and help stakeholders make informed data driven decisions. You will have the opportunity to switch between working on new data science projects and enhancing operational projects.

You will find success based on your ability to:

  • Using your data science superpowers to advise Brightside stakeholders to make data driven decisions
  • Work independently and as a team member to research and develop products.
  • Consult with internal stakeholders on their research needs
  • Assist product and delivery teams by providing high quality data advise and
  • Create predictive models and machine learning algorithms to anticipate customer needs
  • Use your background and experience in machine learning and information retrieval to build and optimize classifiers
  • Utilize dataset experience in document, graph, log data and semi-structured data to extend company’s data with third party sources of information when needed
  • Employ your knowledge of distributed computing solutions and leverage them towards gaining faster insights from data
  • Explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of discovering previously hidden insights
  • Build end-end solutions using cloud computing tools such as GCP, AWS
  • Utilize Agile methodologies to complete tasks and accomplish workflows

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field at an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years work experience designing and developing data science solutions
  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
  • Data mining experience including data auditing, aggregation, validation and reconciliation.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, NumPy, MatLab, Pandas etc.
  • A wizard in Python and SQL-based technologies (e.g PostgreSQL and MySQL) is a must have
  • Knowledge in TensorFlow, C/C++, JavaScript, Pearl, MatLab would be an asset
  • Experience with cloud computing tools such as AWS, GCP would be an asset
  • Work in an agile environment with data science colleagues and business stakeholders to iterate on value propositions for product development
  • A hunger for learning: members of the business unit are charting new territory, trying, failing and learning every day.
  • Comfortable with the unknown and ambiguity: you’ll be asked to do things where there is no “right” way to do it and no “correct” answer, but you won’t be alone, we’ll figure it out together.
