Tech Lead - Behavior Prediction, Deep Learning

We are currently looking for experienced Tech Lead to join our Mountain View office to develop algorithms and pipelines for DiDi autonomous driving projects. The goal is to apply the state-of-the-art AI algorithms on cars to make driving smarter and safer. The position involves research and development on state-of-the-art behavior prediction algorithms for traffic participants such as vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. These algorithms will be applied on real vehicles to be deployed in DiDi’s network.

Responsibilities:

• Lead projects on cutting edge applied machine learning techniques to solve complex problems that arise when trying to predict the future behavior of other road users
• Creatively and collaboratively build new deep learning models that can predict the future behavior of other road users in real-time
• Guide all technical aspects of development, including technical requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration
• Work closely with engineering partners and stakeholders to drive organizational alignment

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in data science including data collection, analysis, hypothesis formulation and verification 
• Experience in applied Machine Learning including feature engineering, model deployment, A/B testing
• Experience in Deep Learning research and tools such as TensorFlow or Pytorch
• Software design and development experience in Python and C++
• Experience managing projects spanning across multiple teams
• Experience in leading teams and setting technical direction
• Experience in building diverse, inclusive and collaborative team culture
• Solid written and verbal communications 
• History and passion for creating inclusive and respectful work environments

Preferred:

• Experience in the autonomous driving industry
• 3+ years of related work experience
