Principal Technical Program Manager - Data Engineering

About the Role

The Data Engineering team works to build, support, and iteratively improve Remitly's data platform composed of streaming events, central data warehouse, extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines, and experimentation. Taken together, these elements provide Remitly engineers, product managers, analysts, and business collaborators the capabilities they need to make data informed decisions. As a Technical Product Manager on this team, reporting to the Director of Machine Learning and Data Engineering, you'll help create our roadmap and foster an environment of high-velocity and high quality execution along the way.

What You'll Do

• Design and manage the process of building data products at Remitly
• Understand how our data architecture works and contribute to documentation for others to self-serve
• Work with product managers, analysts, engineers, and decision scientists to gather feedback and requirements
• Lead our culture of experimentation and event-driven architecture
• Ensure that our experimentation practice and strategy reflects the latest thinking in the scientific community
• Build an outstanding data platform for all of Remitly

Who You Are

• 5+ years experience with at least two of those in the areas of data, experimentation, or machine learning
• You have experience partnering with and translating requirements across multiple teams
• You understand how platform teams operate and how to communicate the meaningful impact they provide
• You are well versed in setting quantitative goals and measuring progress along the way
• You have knowledge of modern data processing systems: Hadoop, Spark, Redshift
• You have a sense of healthy ownership
• You've been a part of a central data platform team at product with millions of users
