We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Data Scientist, Privacy Engineering works very closely with Geotab’s Data Privacy Specialist, data science team, data product teams, and data operations team.

What you'll do:
Our Data Scientist, Privacy Engineering role comprises conducting motivated intruder attacks on aggregate datasets and further developing Geotab’s innovative anonymization techniques for geo-spatial data.  This role works hand-in-hand with Geotab’s data operations team to operationalize models and transformations.  This role also works collaboratively with data product teams to ensure a balance of innovation while following privacy by design principles.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Regularly conduct motivated intruder attacks on Geotab’s aggregate data (a strong understanding of geo-spatial data and GIS functions is an asset).
  • Work collaboratively with with third parties on motivated intruder attacks
  • Design models and data transformations that further Geotab’s anonymization techniques.
  • Assist Data Privacy Specialist in technical assessment of privacy impact assessments as needed.
  • Generate reports and communicate results of analyses to the Data Privacy Specialist.
  • Generate queries from Geotab’s Big Data Infrastructure from Data Warehousing database (i.e. Google BigQuery).
  • Use Machine Learning (ML) packages (e.g. Scikit-learn and Tensorflow) to develop ML models and features.
  • Work with data operations and ML ops teams to scale models and transformations that have been developed at an enterprise level
  • .Collaborate with internal technical teams to gather requirements.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma with specialization in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Data Scientist or a similar role.
  • Understanding of machine learning and operations research.
  • Thorough knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, C++) and object-oriented programming.
  • Thorough knowledge of Big Data tools and Data Mining/Warehousing Programs (e.g. Google BigQuery). 
  • Experience working with geo-spatial datasets.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques (e.g. Scikit-learn, Tensorflow).Experience using/building business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks.
  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization, with knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
