Amazon Advertising sits at the intersection of e-commerce and advertising, developing new native advertising experiences that are a critical area of strategic focus for the company. The specific project details are confidential. We are seeking a Principal Applied Scientist that will be responsible for creating and delivering ML innovation aimed at evolving Amazon's Advertising solutions, inventing new shopper and advertiser experiences, and accelerating the pace of Machine Learning innovation and optimization. From influencing customer facing shopping experiences to helping suppliers grow their retail business and the auction dynamics that leverage native advertising, this role will drive one the fastest growing businesses in Amazon.
As a Principal Applied Scientist, you will:
· Own and drive the most complex and strategic solutions across the business; responsible for many billions in revenue.
· Act as a thought leader and forward thinker, anticipating obstacles to success and helping avoid common failure modes.
· Research, build, and deploy innovative machine learning solutions; working across all technical disciplines.
· Partner with science and engineer leaders across the business to identify and deliver innovative machine solutions; identify new opportunities, define the visions, and execute solutions that continually delight customers.
· Hire and coach senior scientists; partner with engineering leaders to build efficient, scalable solutions.
To be successful in this role you should be recognized as an industry expert who has experience defining a long-term science visions within the AdTech domain, driven fundamentally from the needs of customers, translating that direction into specific plans for research scientist, applied scientists, engineering and product teams. · PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
· 10+ years of top quality machine learning research experience, with strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
· 10+ years of experience building and deploying groundbreaking machine learning solutions at scale.
· Expert level skills across many Machine Learning methodologies.
· Published research work in academic conferences or industry circles.
· Experience delivering complex end-to-end global ML solutions that run at very big scale.
· Experience with online advertising technologies and solutions.

Basic Qualifications
· PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
