About the Role

Are you an expert data modeller who created corporate models from scratch in the past? Are you an SME in messaging platforms and data exchange principles? Have you architected and delivered meta-data and master data management solutions? If so, we would like to talk to you.

We are looking for someone to ultimately help us design, create and implement a central master data model for the business, so that it can be used across a new messaging backbone, and ultimately into APIs and storage.

The goal is to have a central, versioned data model that we can document, maintain and grow. As a Data Architect, you will oversee the transition to a new data model and messaging infrastructure that will fit the entire business. Working with and validating data artefacts and plans ready for Proof of Value increments, you will help drive the initiative to deliver substantial data value for Encompass.

You will also be expected to provide accurate advice on data architecture best practice, patterns and principles, ensuring that our data-driven initiative continually aligns to business outcomes, and our teams are guided by you on this journey.

We currently use a modern tech stack, which is mainly composed of Java 8/11, ES9, AngularJs, React, Spring Framework/Boot, Micro-services, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ecosystem, Auth0, ActiveMQ and Tomcat8.

  • Drive refinements to our data transformation processes
  • Collaborate and communicate with the relevant stakeholders (in Engineering, Data Management and Product)
  • Advise on the exchange of data between systems on the messaging backbone
  • Define and maintain ETL streaming processes through visual tools or programmatically (preferably in Python)
  • Support the management team to produce and maintain policies for information security covering; data architecture, access controls, networks, secure data processing, secure configuration management and development
  • Contribute to data management policies and practices, the business continuity, disaster recovery and backup policies
  • Support APIs & integration management, versions and releases
  • Utilise a data modelling tool to be able to capture the current state of the data model as well as visualise and report on this
  • Utilise data architecture best practice as well as industry standard practises and processes in diagramming, data architecture development, data modelling, deduplication, master-data management etc.
  • Advise and mentor colleagues; share information and documentation continuously
  • Work closely with the wider Architecture team, continually refining the Enterprise Data Architecture capability

Qualifications & Experience

To succeed, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer/data science technical or related experience
  • Experience in SQL and NO-SQL databases, structured and unstructured data, ETLs and data ingestion protocols
