Amazon’s Finance Technology team is dedicated to applying Machine Learning to Financial problems ranging from fraud detection to cash forecasting. As an Data Scientist, the impact of your models will be measured in millions to billions of dollars.


You will collaborate with other ML scientists on the team across problem spaces ranging from fraud detection to forecasting and influence your team’s science strategy by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach. You will be involved in the Machine Learning Community, taking part in reading groups and conferences. By partnering with engineers, you will design new machine learning solutions and have them implemented across Finance.


Our ideal candidate relishes seeing real world results from experiments and is excited to research, develop and apply new techniques to massive datasets. You will analyze and process large amounts of structured and unstructured text ranging from purchase orders, invoices, and emails to find insights and extract meaningful entities. You will evaluate state-of-the-art algorithms and frameworks, develop new algorithms to generate and evaluate synthetic data.

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor's Degree
· 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
· 2 years working as a Data Scientist
· MS/PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
· 2+ years of Post-doc or hands-on experience in artificial intelligence, predictive modeling, machine learning or large data analysis
· Algorithm and model development experience for large-scale applications
· Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Python/Perl, R/Matlab, Java, C/C++, Scala
· Problem solving ability

Preferred Qualifications

· A PhD in Computer Science, machine learning, Statistics, Operational research
· 3+ years of industry experience in fraud detection, entity recognition, or NLP
· Strong problem solving ability
· Solid SQL Skills
· Solid skills with Spark/Python/Perl (or similar)
· Communication and data presentation skills
