About The Role

The Mindvalley data engineering and Analytics teams are helping to build the future of education through data-informed decision making and
data-powered products. We are looking for a Data Scientist Lead to lead a team of data scientists and help us gain useful insight out of raw data. The Data Scientist Lead responsibilities include managing the data science team, planning projects and building analytics models. You should have a strong problem-solving ability and a knack for AI, ML and statistical analysis. Your ultimate goal will be to help improve our products and business decisions by making the most out of our data.

Responsibilities

  • Drive solutioning and implementation of data science and analytics models
  • Manage and supervise project delivery, mentor team and build new capabilities
  • Support and contribute to thought leadership and building new skills
  • Work seamlessly with internal teams in positioning data science and analytical capabilities to assist Mindvalley in driving and delivering data science solutions and models
  • Understand the challenges of using AI/ ML in a business setting, such as incomplete data, biased data, large data sets and high variance
  • Translate business issues into specific requirements to develop analytics solutions and identify the appropriate data to support the data science solution
  • Formulate high business impact cluster or nodes and establish performance checks on the data models
  • Create insights from predictive modelling to deliver business value and business knowledge to discover relationships among variables
  • Conceive, plan and prioritize data projects while aligning the data science projects to organizational goals
  • Responsible for building analytics systems and predictive models as well as experimenting with new models and techniques
  • Interpret and analyze data problems and guarantee data quality and integrity
  • Utilize data visualization tools to deliver insights to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with data and software engineers to enable deployment of sciences and technologies that will scale across the company’s ecosystem
  • Spot and evaluate emerging, cutting edge, open source, ML libraries
  • Adhere to quality assurance and documentation standards using version control and code repositories (eg., Git, GitHub, Markdown)

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Ideal candidate should have a degree in a quantitative field - mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics, operations research, quantitative social science
  • Familiarity with programming for data analysis; ideally Python, SQL, or R
  • Experience in text mining, NLP
  • Basic Knowledge on software development principles and architecture
  • Knowledge of Cloud technologies and relational databases
  • Able to lead a small team
  • Strong consultative, business and communication skills in addition to quantitative ability
  • Good analytical, problem solving abilities and strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to break down and understand complex business problems, define a solution and implement it using advanced quantitative methods
  • A business mindset, solid oral and written communication skills, especially around analytical concepts and methods
  • Great work ethic and intellectual curiosity

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or similar field
  • Strong background in AI/ML, calculations and mathematical knowledge
  • Innovative, strong analytical and algorithmic problem solvers
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or similar role
  • Solid understanding of machine learning and experience in handling real data
  • Able to distill insights from huge volumes of data
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, Bash) for orchestration and data manipulation and statistical computing tools like R, SAS, and SPSS
  • Data engineering experience, including SQL and experience manipulating structured and unstructured data sources for analysis
  • Hands-on experience with Machine Learning methodologies and algorithms, such as unsupervised clustering, binary or multi-classification algorithms etc.
