About the Data Science & Machine Learning OrganizationThe H1 Platform features the world’s largest healthcare database with more than 10M HCPs and 16K Healthcare Organizations, 160 million peer-reviewed publications,350,000 clinical trials, 2 billion procedures, 3 billion diagnoses, and 700 medical societies, covering over 67 countries and 35 languages, all updated frequently.
Our AI (including machine learning and natural language processing) teams sit at the epicenter of our H1’s data platform and products. While H1 has teams collecting, curating, and normalizing data from hundreds of disparate sources from around the globe, it is the AI teams that are responsible for developing a comprehensive information organization and insights discovery process to power our products. Our organization is also responsible for building processes and infrastructure to both do ML at scale and leverage it to speed up the turn-around time for ML algorithms that automate knowledge discovery.
The RoleWe are looking for a stellar candidate to lead our machine learning (ML) Platform group. The primary responsibility of the group will be to build a robust, scalable ML platform to support organization-wide ML efforts and build interfaces that enable collaboration with data and engineering organizations for data ingestion, standardization, analytics readiness and model outputs, provisioning, and deployment. The ideal candidate will have a great technological vision, platform architecting, and building capabilities to support end-to-end ML development lifecycle, solid research credentials, experience in leading a world-class R&D team of scientists and engineers as well as an understanding of the broader AI landscape.
The candidate will work with distributed multi-disciplinary teams, including analysts, data scientists, engineers, domain SME’s, product managers, and software developers, to design and launch AI products and solutions to power H1’s offerings. This hands-on leader will lead scientists and engineers to address ML development and scaling to support our innovation efforts in machine learning, natural language understanding, knowledge graphs, and information systems.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for the function and the roadmap to execute effectively
• Align with stakeholders and senior leadership
• Architect an efficient ML development platform to support large scale model development activities incorporating the best-in-class technologies Lead the design and implementation of data processing pipelines from ingestion to analytics readiness
• Incorporate effective MLOps and DevOps capabilities, unit test, CI/CD suites
• Partner with stakeholders in provisioning the models for production, as well as insights into actionable product features Build and manage the team(s)
• Identify/Ideate, develop, and build prototypical capabilities to demonstrate research and innovation results
• Responsible for ownership of the entire ML development platform supporting projects across various areas of machine learning and AI.
• Collaborate with other groups within the company while maintaining clear differentiation and value
• Familiarity with building systems (infrastructure, software stacks, and architecture, deployment of AI capabilities, application development) is critical

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline focused on Machine Learning/AI with at least 8 years of experienceExperience in leading software/research teams
• Hands-on experience in architecting and building platforms for large scale machine learning
• Strong background in databases (SQL and No SQL), AWS algorithmic frameworks, containerization ecosystems (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.), DAG management (Airflow, Argo, Prefect, etc.)
• Strong experience with systems for large-scale data analysis including Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and their subcomponents (Yarn, Zookeeper etc.)
• Strong project management experience
• Established track record of delivering projects around Large-scale data-driven systems
• Hands-on coding experience with two or more of C/C++, Python, Scala, Lua, R
• Solid project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in optimization, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms
• Experience in one or more of the open-source deep learning frameworks including TensorFlow, MXNet, Theano, or Caffe.
• Solid understanding of underlying algorithmic and architectural concepts to enhance the inner workings of an AI framework of choice
