About One Concern

The Role 

One Concern is growing rapidly and we are looking for a passionate, mission-driven Head of Data Operations. You'll manage operations of all data in the One Concern platform. In this role, you'll build and nurture our team of data scientists and partner with engineering to guide development of event response features.  

Reporting to our Head of Data Science, you'll streamline data to focus on improving communication and automation of data flows between data managers and users. You'll play a key role in delivering business value from data as we scale our product offerings.

What You'll Do

  • Own the data lifecycle - manage and maintain the data catalog of input and output data of the One Concern DNA platform (e.g. data type, description,  location, restrictions, etc)
  • Innovate on bringing the best technologies and tools to empower data
  • Create process and automation on data quality checks, discovery and usage
  • Set regular data audits, QA processes and overseeing the regular execution of these processes
  • Empower 1C team members with fast self-service access to data for ad-hoc analysis
  • Manage list of open items on input data quality while working with data vendors and Technology team  
  • Relay any input data or output data issues to appropriate Data Science & Engineering team members for resolution (e.g. outliers, odd distributions, nonsensical results, etc.)
  • Tier 1 for answering questions related to data for 1C users and internal stakeholders (e.g. anomalous data, outliers, access restrictions, improbable data, etc.) 
  • Actively gather datasets and potential vendors by establishing Data Science team needs and Business team goals to improve business outcomes
  • Source of truth for data availability, data coverage, and descriptive statistics related to input and output datasets 
  • Point person to answer questions from internal and external stakeholders about sharing permissions for input and output data
  • Develop the strategy and go-to-market plans for high value data partnerships to strengthen One Concern’s technology and data assets
  • Qualify, structure, negotiate, contract, and execute on data vendors
  • Create a plan for building a data ops team from ground up and eventually grow into managing a small data ops team

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate degree in an engineering or computer science related field, including analytics and statistics
  • 3+ years of experience within data engineering, analytics, ML pipelines or in a similar field
  • Experience coordinating with stakeholders on Data Operations
  • Desire to learn new topics and skills and to develop innovative solutions for our customers
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to experiment, fail fast, learn, and adapt
  • Mission-driven and team-focused 
Compensation will be competitive with the market for this position and will include equity consideration.
