We solve significant customer problems in the consumer electronics space through devices, mobile applications, cloud services (AWS), computer vision, and machine learning.


As a Software Engineer on this team, you will define and build innovative consumer product experiences with a direct impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of flagship products that customers love and use every day. The ideal candidate will have industry-leading programming skills, an established background developing consumer applications and services across mobile platforms or high-volume service architectures, and an industry-leading knowledge of object-oriented development.

Our emerging technologies team, within Amazon’s Device organization, is looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented individuals to join our fast paced, start-up environment to help invent the future of health. We have just launched our initial product and service offering and are excited to continue inventing on behalf of our customers


What will you help us create?

You will design and deliver innovative software solutions to enable fast and secure ML development. You are ready to learn, apply and enable internal scientists and developers to use new technologies effectively. You are curious about new ML tools, have a keen eye on data security and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Members of this team tend to have a high degree of fluency in one or more programming languages and tools and work with an unwavering focus on simplicity and performance.


You will provide technical leadership and also contribute to the definition, development, integration, testing, documentation, and support of software applications across multiple platforms. Successful candidates must be motivated to work in a data driven environment, have a desire to drive process improvement, and be capable of translating high-level, ambiguous business goals to working software solutions.

The ideal candidate:
· Has a strong foundation in software development, design patterns, and cloud computing.
· Has some experience working with Big-data, distributed systems, and web applications and understands how they are deployed.
· Has experience with database design (SQL/NoSQL)
· Promotes robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and can deliver high quality work on tight schedules.
· Enjoys working side by side with partners, colleagues and teams on challenging problems.
· Is driven to learn and adapt, explore new technologies and push the boundaries of what's possible.

About the hiring group
· Work with data providers to ingest data into the Datalake.
· Work with scientists to understand their data exploration needs.
· Run demos to show scientists how the data can be explored and used for their needs.
· Work with customers to understand business needs and build solutions that accelerate feature development
· Codify operational monitoring mechanisms like alarms and dashboards.
· Monitor operations and make improvements based issues discovered.

Job responsibilities
· You will work to streamline storage and compute needs for Healthtech Datalake.
· Healthtech Datalake powers development and improvement of the science features that enable the Halo to get smarter, better, and more useful to our customers.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
· 5+ years experience building successful production software systems
· 5+ years of experience with OO design/development skills and a track record for driving projects from concept to prototype and finally implementation
· 5+ years of experience in a variety of programming languages (Java, Scala, Python, TypeScript)
· Experience in open-source technologies (Linux, SQL, Docker) and Amazon Web Services (Glue, Athena, EMR, Redshift, S3, SQS, EC2)

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
· Experience in Amazon Web Services (Glue, Athena, EMR, Redshift, S3, SQS, EC2)
· Development experience defining, developing and maintaining web service API's
· Experience with technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers
· Experience supporting machine learning applications and data scientists
· The ability to define system architecture and explore the feasibility of various designs
· Some experience with Big Data technologies, e.g., Hadoop, Spark
· Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
