A day in the life
We are looking for a talented Data Engineer who is passionate about building data pipelines and developing novel metrics to measure business and algorithm health. You will work in a highly collaborative environment with many talented team members in business strategy, product development, software engineering, and business intelligence. You should have great problem solving skills, and confidence in learning and growing your skills in many AWS technologies, including EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, SageMaker ML, Redshift Spectrum, DynamoDB, Aurora, Spark, EC2, S3 and many others. You love keeping abreast of the latest technology and use it to help you innovate. You should also have strong leadership qualities, great judgment, clear communication skills, and a track record of delivering resilient production ready products.
About the hiring group
LEO Tech is one of the newest teams at Amazon whose focus is to develop creative marketing modeling and best-in-class technology solutions to spear-head the top line growth. Since beginning of 2019 this team has successfully launched three big programs targeting a massive customer base of 150 million customers in North America marketplace alone, delivering highly personalized contents through many different channels to help our valuable customers with shopping insights, enriched personal experience and guided behavior change in every aspect of their lifecycles.
Job responsibilities
· You will develop a deep understanding of Amazon’s vast data sources and know exactly how, when, and which data to use to solve particular business problems.
· You will build and maintain data pipelines capable of handling terabytes of data.
· You will dive deep into complex data issues in production and simulation.
· You will build tools for research, experimentation, and measurement.

Basic Qualifications
· 2+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data and experience with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
· Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
· 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
· Experience in working and delivering end-to-end projects independently.
· Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
· Experience in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (Ruby, Python, Java)
· Experience with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (Millions to Billions of rows) of data· Experience working with marketing, advertising, or e-commerce data
· Experience in developing customer personalization solutions is a huge plus
· Experience using big data technologies (Spark, EMR, Airflow etc.)
· Experience in using popular AWS technologies such as Kinesis, Lambda, Redshift Spectrum, EC2, S3
· Experience in adopting machine learning technology such as AWS SageMaker
· Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and problem solving
· Passion for understanding ambiguous, complex problems and driving high-quality, innovative, clean technical solutions
