Media Data Analyst

CoinDesk is looking for an analyst with 1-3 years of digital media experience who is excited to learn and continue to hone their craft in providing relevant insights and reporting across a multitude of data sources.  CoinDesk recently launched CoinDesk TV and is continually growing its website, podcast, data, newsletter, digital advertising, & licensing/distribution businesses.  We are looking for an analyst who has familiarity with these media datasets and is not afraid to dive into UIs to export files, build reports, draw insights, & present findings to key stakeholders.

In addition, the Media Data Analyst will work sometimes directly with editorial, video, podcast, ad operations, & product teams to evaluate the performance of their projects & inform strategies based on those findings.  Experience working with publisher-side reporting & analytics is preferred, but not required.  Goal in 6 months is a well-rounded contributor, who can work independently and present findings & actionable insights to the various business units. 


  • Export, clean, & build reports out of various data sources, such as Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager, SailThru, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, & many other data sources based on the business unit
  • Clean & QA data files for various teams via advanced Excel through VLookups, Pivot Tables, SumIfs, Index-Match formulas, Calculated Fields, etc.
  • Create charts & draw insights via Excel, Tableau, & data source exports 
  • Work with editorial, product, TV, & other teams to set benchmarks, measure results, & inform strategy
  • Understand website traffic patterns via source reporting & internal & external product updates
  • Must be a self-starter, intellectually curious, ready to challenge assumptions, & think outside the box


  • Ad operations, tagging, or similar digital media/advertising experience
  • SQL, Python, setting up APIs, or similar querying & coding experience
  • Previous use of data visualization software, such as Tableau, Datorama, Looker, etc. experience
  • An outgoing personality to interface with most business units
  • Google Ads/Google Analytics Certified
  • Preferred locations: California Colorado Connecticut Florida Massachusetts Michigan  Minnesota New Jersey New York North Carolina Ohio Oregon Pennsylvania Texas Virginia Washington   Occasional company-sponsored travel to New York City, 1-4 times per year, is also expected, pending CDC guidelines and your safety."
