This entrepreneurial and data-loving person will take ownership of end-to-end data integrations and will be responsible for architecting new data solutions and optimizing existing data architectures for our Data and Analytics teams.
A day in the life
If you love challenges that come with data and integrations around data, then this role is for you. As a Data Engineer, you will be working with the Product, Analytics, and Marketing teams to design/architect solutions around content consumption and marketing data from the Wondery sites and apps, including data from external partners. You will be tasked with establishing data extraction and transformation processes from point A to point B (and everything in between), ensuring data integrity, flexibility, and security standards in technical solutions.

The Product and Technology team at Wondery is responsible for the subscription membership product, Wondery+ Wondery+ gives its customers more of the Wondery podcasts that they love, including early access to new episodes of some of our hit Wondery podcasts, plus exclusive and bonus content, all ad free. This team manages the product and technology solutions for both the Wondery app and site, including analytics, content distribution, integrations with partner distributors, and customer service relations.
Job responsibilities
· Establish and oversee the data extraction and transformation process for the Wondery team
· Architect end-to-end solutions around data integrations, insisting on the highest standards on operations in ETL and data pipeline security
· Design, build, and launch efficient & reliable data pipelines to move and transform data (both large and small amounts)
· Intelligently craft data models for optimal storage and retrieval
· Securely source external data from numerous partners
· Researching and integrating partner vendor data solutions
· Design and develop new systems in partnership with other software engineers to enable quick and easy consumption of data
· Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including analytics, product, engineering, marketing and more to define and deliver technology-driven data solutions
· Ownership of data integrity and security processes for data pipelines, providing on-call technical support as needed
· Coordinate with vendors to stay abreast of current/upcoming features that may improve results for our Analytics and Product teams

Basic Qualifications
· 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
· Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
· Experience in SQL
· 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
· 3+ Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
· 3+ Experience in ETL Design, SQL. and distributed computing using AWS solutions
· 2+ years experience integrating third-party vendor solutions
· Strong understanding of data pipeline technologies and a track record of delivering sophisticated data pipeline technology stacks
· Experience with acquiring data from APIs
· Experience in scripting - Python/Java/Shell
· Experience with more than one coding language
· Designing and implementing real-time pipelines
· Experience with data quality and validation
Preferred Qualifications
· Graduate degree in a related technical field· 5+ years of experience as a data/software developer/scientist or related technical job
· 5+ years of modern programming language development experience
· 5+ years of SQL and relational databases experience
· 5+ years experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
· 3+ role as a data engineering lead
· Experience with Agile Development
· Experience with AWS services
· Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude
· Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations and how they impact a data pipeline implementation
· Experience with one or more of the following tools: mParticle, Amplitude, Athena, AWS Glue, DynamoDB, Periscope, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks
· A love of podcasts!
