The Digital group is charged with creating connected experiences and back-end services to catapult our several consumer brands to global significance and impact.
Today, we serve Biossance, Pipette and Purecane. Among other projects, we are building two new brands that will launch later this year. We are creating a clean cosmetics line in partnership with Rosie Huntington-Whitely to launch on a new Rose, Inc. platform. We are creating a clean hair care brand, JVN Hair, in partnership with Jonathan Van Ness. We recently acquired Terasana and Costa Brazil.
We are looking for a Sr. or Lead Data Scientist to join the growing Amyris Digital team. Reporting to the VP of Data this person will build innovative data products that improve Amyris’s direct to consumer lines. You will work alongside a development team to tackle the job of understanding of our customers. The ideal candidate is a strong Data Scientist who has Data Engineering leanings and has built out multiple data solutions before.

Responsibilities

• Create Data Science solutions for stakeholder requirements and self-identified problems through advanced analytics techniques like multivariate testing, optimization, and machine learning
• Assemble and munge data sets across multiple sources and systems
• Support the understanding and management of data: cleaning, mapping, mastering, deduping, and QA
• Mentor and lead junior members of the team
• Present solutions and findings to stakeholders at all levels within the company
• Create and update internal system documentation
• Tackle complex problems requiring a creative mindset to find innovative and elegant solutions

Qualifications

• BA or BS in the fields of: Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Analytics, or other relevant fields
• 4+ years of applicable work experience
• Experience working with relational SQL and/or NoSQL databases (i.e. you can pull and munge your own data)
• Experience working with big data platforms
• Fluency with one or more major programing language: R, Python, Java, Scala, etc.
• Good understanding of CS fundamentals, e.g. algorithms and data structures.
• Expertise with Machine Learning techniques, e.g. classification, clustering, regularization, optimization, dimension reduction, etc.
• Good communication skills and ability to explain complex topics to a non-technical audience

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or PhD. in a technical field
• 7+ of building out Data Science systems and solutions
• Experience operationalizing Data Science Solutions
• Experience working with one of the large public cloud providers: AWS, GCC, or Azure
• Experience with Data Science packages and toolkits like: TensorFlow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, etc.
• Familiarity with statistics concepts and analysis, e.g. hypothesis testing, regression, etc.
• Experience building dashboards in platform: Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• History of running data centric and/or data management projects
• Ability to manage stakeholder discussions
