Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Data Science, Solutions Engineer who will leverage an understanding of Geotab’s data and technical capabilities in order to identify and build solutions to aid our customers in reaching their electric vehicle and sustainability goals. You like using data to solve complex problems, and you are interested in making the transportation industry more efficient and sustainable.

What you’ll do:
As a Data Science, Solutions Engineer, you will be interacting with our data, including cleaning data, analyzing data, visualizing data, and providing insights and reports on a daily basis. The insights you derive may be for internal stakeholders, data quality monitoring, product development, or for unique customer solutions. You will follow solutions from problem definition through development, and present results and recommendations frequently to a variety of audiences.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Maintain technical knowledge of the Geotab ecosystem and act as the SME for EV data solutions to enable end-users to better understand Geotab solutions.
  • Write professional reports to measure and report on program success and results.
  • Contribute to and maintain documentation for all ongoing projects and tasks. (e.g. EV analytics team python library).
  • Create new algorithms for custom reporting, understanding the needs of specific clients as well as powertrain and vehicle considerations.
  • Create monitors for data quality in Google BigQuery.
  • Maintain airflow pipelines for continual data analysis combining SQL queries and python scripts.
  • Assist during client calls to explain the nuances of data analysis.
  • Strategize with sales teams to create customized solutions.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • 1-3 years experience using SQL (Google Big Query preferred).
  • 1-3 years experience with data science tools (Python, pandas, numpy preferred).
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer science or related field.
  • Familiarity with telematics and SAAS.
  • Familiarity with electric vehicle powertrains.
  • Experience working with large data environments and demonstrated ability to extract value from very large datasets.
  • Experience with object oriented programming an asset.
  • A strong understanding of the regulations in place for transportation services (e.g. OBD, SAE vehicle standards).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training.
  • Excellent written communication skills, able to document technology solutions in precise detail, while also being able to summarize it succinctly.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
