Udemy is looking for a senior data scientist to partner with our paid marketing teams to work on marketing measurement, budget allocation and channel optimization decisions which are critical to grow the business by efficiently investing into different channels. 
As a Senior Marketing Data Scientist, you will rely on quantitative methods and business intuition, and utilize a combination of modeling, experimentation, and causal inference methods to drive the marketing decisions at Udemy. 

Here Are Some Questions You Could Be Working On:

  • What is the causal impact of our advertising spend for different campaigns and channels?
  • How can we attribute revenue to different ad campaigns?
  • What should be the budget we allocate across different channels?
  • How should a measurement system that integrates marketing attribution, incrementality testing and budget allocation (e.g. MMM) look like?
  • How does consumer facing marketing impact other lines of our business (e.g. B2B revenue)?

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to inform business direction
  • Be a subject matter expert and thought leader in the area of marketing measurement and help drive the data science roadmap
  • Develop end-to-end modeling solutions for budget allocation and channel optimizations, build and maintain relevant data pipelines and workflows
  • Lead experimentation and causal analysis by partnering with ad platforms to improve the marketing measurement system
  • Define metrics and build dashboards for marketing optimization decisions
  • Proactively influence marketing strategy and prioritization through data-driven insights
  • Effectively communicate and present to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide technical mentorship to others
  • Build Udemy’s technical brand through talks, blog posts, and publications

We’re Excited About You Because You Have:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience or 2+ years of relevant experience with a post-graduate education such as PhD in a quantitative field
  • Experience in the marketing science domain with applications of statistical/ML modeling, optimization, causal inference/econometrics and experimental design
  • Experience in measuring digital advertising campaigns using data from ad platforms
  • Experience in data driven attribution models, marketing incrementality testing and MMM based marketing efficiency measurement systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong business and product intuition as well as judgement
  • Strong data storytelling and data visualization ability
  • Strong SQL ability and proficiency with 1+ programming languages (Python strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with building data pipelines (e.g. in Hive, Spark) and workflow tools (e.g. Airflow)
  • Ability to work autonomously and has strong interest to take ownership and lead while effectively partnering with stakeholders

Preferred But Not Required

  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker, Chartio, or Tableau)
