Job Description

Establishing a resilient, sustainable portfolio is critical for energy companies as they develop agile business models to meet net zero goals. Our Subsurface Research team delivers integrated analysis across the geo-energy value-chain, enabling customers to navigate the energy industry dynamics, and make quicker, more effective decisions through our data and world-class, thought-leading content.

Client relationships are core to our success as they seek to understand the full value chain from new ventures and exploration through development and production to carbon sequestration and new energy generation.

Reporting to the Subsurface Senior Research Manager, a Senior Research Analyst is required to join our global Research team in a specialist role

Main Responsibilities

New Energies

  • Support our CCUS agenda for the EMEA region. Maintain awareness of CCUS project updates and licence rounds. Manage our depleted fields and saline aquifers product delivery
  • Help drive the scope and delivery of our New Energies roadmap including Geothermal, Hydrogen, and Metals and Mining 
  • Work in collaboration with our data and product functions, providing SME support in the delivery of a geothermal deep wells database
  • Stay current with industry developments and support the Subsurface leadership in the evolution of our offering, identifying growth opportunities in the new energies space 

Subsurface Team

  • Contribute to ensuring that we are delivering the best possible Subsurface data quality to our clients 
  • Help drive integration and leverage synergies across the Subsurface Team
  • Deliver a wide range of content from reactive pieces to deeper thought-provoking insight. Working with autonomy and in collaboration with other business functions is essential 

Commercial

  • Become an accomplished user of our Lens solution and develop the skills to leverage its full analytical value. Staying cognisant with the latest solutions and establishing how we leverage them for our research is key to role success 
  • Be client facing, working closely with account managers to support strategic accounts, explore cross-sell and business development opportunities, and resolve client-critical business needs 
  • Bring enhanced subsurface awareness across Woodmac through a wide range of communications including webinars and knowledge shares

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Masters or equivalent in a relevant geosciences or engineering-based discipline
  • >7 years relevant, professional experience and maximum of 10 years. Experience as a geoscientist or engineer in an E&P company is a plus
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and knowledge of the energy transition
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Being client facing will be an integral part of your day-to-day role
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, VBA and relational database structures is preferred, but not required

Additional Information

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future
  • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones
