About the Role
As our Decision Scientist for the Driver Ops team, you'll focus on elevating our driver-partners’ experience, ensuring they have a cordial, mutually beneficial, and hassle-free relationship with Gojek. You'll analyze and monitor driver-partner business metrics, devise data/stats-based solutions to technical barriers, and (most importantly), understand, relay, and resolve the issues our driver-partners face during the course of the day (i.e. traffic patterns, inclement weather, long wait times, rude customers, anxiety of not getting orders, COVID protocols). With Business & Product stakeholders, you'll make data-driven decisions that will ensure our driver-partners are given the experience, care, and platform they deserve.

What You Will Do

  • Be a thought partner to the Product and Business teams in terms of relaying driver-partner experiences and concerns
  • Analyze and monitor business metrics (through reporting and dashboards) with Product and Business stakeholders
  • Experiment first approach to drive insights for our products
  • Understand business concerns and formulate them as technical problems that can be solved using data and math/stats/ML
  • Build self-serve data products (such as data marts) to reduce time to insights
  • Communicate with Product and Business stakeholders to drive data initiatives

What You Will Need

  • At least 4 years of experience in statistical analysis and building machine learning models for product applications
  • Expert proficiency in SQL, and strong experience using a data visualization and dashboarding tool (e.g. Tableau, Metabase, Google Data Studio)
  • Ability to analyze a business problem independently - including data manipulation, hypotheses formulation, experimental design and statistical analysis
  • Strong knowledge of essential data science libraries, including Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, and Scikit-Learn
  • Experience in building robust ML/AI models
  • An interest in learning more about the changing ML/AI space, and a bias towards using this knowledge to enhance our products
  • A strong business sense with stellar critical thinking and communication abilities to effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in deploying machine learning models
About the Team
Our Driver Partners are one of the key pillars of our business. From delivering food orders to transporting people and goods from one place to another, there is very little that our drivers can’t do. The Driver Platform team is an integral part of the entire Gojek ecosystem. We're responsible for building apps that are used by millions of driver-partners every day to earn their living. Our apps are operational across multiple countries in the Southeast Asian region, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, and are growing at a rapid pace. We work to meet the technological needs of our driver-partners via the systems and tools we build and provide for them. Besides shipping a world-class transport app, we also work as a “platform team,” building features ourselves and enabling other teams in Gojek to contribute to our codebase. This gives us a unique chance to build excellent engineering processes and practices to support a large scale of developers working on the codebase. The Driver Platform Data team, a sub-pod of the larger Driver Platform team, is a small group of Data Analysts, Decision Scientists and Data Scientists based in Jakarta and Bangalore. In collaboration with our Product and Business counterparts, we work towards enriching the driver-partner experience and driver-partner lifecycle, and heightening the sense of trust amongst our driver-partners and the company. Our work revolves around conducting rigorous analyses and building Machine Learning decisioning systems and applications to improve our products. Our team is currently hard at work positioning our driver-partners to better handle incoming demand. Our data marts and dashboards fuel the product roadmaps with insights, experiments, and ample data. Two of our current key initiatives are proactively managing the quantity & quality of supply on the app, and enhancing income for our driver-partners. We are a big team of home bakers, Netflix watchers, and K-pop fans who enjoy using technology to ease the lives of the people in our community. We work hard and play hard, and believe it or not, we actually enjoy each other’s company!
