The engineering organization is looking for a motivated Data Analyst who will report into our Data Science group and closely partner with our Growth team to provide best-in-class insights generation to unlock company-wide understanding of our growth levers to get more people to succeed with GitHub and become customers.

As a Growth Data Analyst within the Data Science team, you will leverage data and automation to help GitHub solve impactful business, marketing, and growth problems across all of GitHub’s product surfaces (github.com, emails, notifications, etc.).

Responsibilities:

  • Dig into large data sets across the customer life cycle to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to grow the business
  • Identify growth opportunities and propose new experiments. We believe great ideas come from everywhere in the team!
  • Work with our data science team to analyze test outcomes and report results to share with a varied audience
  • Perform ad hoc analyses of varying depth to support strategic initiatives and answer questions arising in the day to day business
  • Present your awesome data results and recommendations to leaders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, math, engineering, computer science, economics, business, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years prior relevant experience in an Analytics role covering product or engineering
  • Experience translating requirements into analysis questions that can be directly actioned
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis using Python / R (or equivalent) on experiments
  • Expertise in writing SQL queries and working with multiple data sets to develop analytical solutions for defined business problems
  • Experience with engineering practices around analytical rigor and the ability to make analyses reproducible
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and communicate analysis into insights that inform business decision making
  • Demonstrated willingness to both teach others and learn new analytical problem solving techniques
