Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Data Scientist, Technical Trainer who will be a crucial part as you will be accountable for training and enhancing knowledge of our Geotab customers, resellers, partners and employees. What you’ll do: 
You will work with Geotab’s Data and Analytics team who  is constantly producing deep analysis and insight into Geotab’s data infrastructure leveraging machine learning techniques. As a Data Scientist, Technical Trainer, you will create content and deliver sessions at our Bootcamps and Data Tech Talks that are designed to educate and train. You will deliver sessions on a variety of topics ranging from BigData, SQL, Python Coding, data analysis, machine learning and data visualization and  tailor teaching content for both internal and external  training. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a passion for training and public speaking.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Deliver training sessions at Getoab Data Bootcamps and conduct Data Tech talks on a regular basis for Geotab Customers, Resellers, Partners and Employees.
  • Train customers, Resellers and internal employees, on a wide range of topics ranging from Big Data, SQL, python coding, data analysis, machine learning, deep learning, data visualization, etc.
  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain cutting-edge technical curriculum and content for training experiences (on-boarding, continuous learning, bootcamps, etc.) relevant to audiences with a diverse set of educational backgrounds and industry experience.
  • Tailor learning & development content to meet the needs of both internal  and external audiences.
  • Lead by example as a data scientist, to be an excellent role model for our internal staff, customers and resellers.
  • Coordinate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Product Discovery, Data Privacy and other teams across Geotab to identify training needs and contribute to the strategic learning & development roadmap.
  • Participate in periodic training workshops to sharpen relevant skill-sets.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical or Software Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Technical Trainer, preferably in a Data Science capacity. Extensive knowledge in R or Python data analysis.
  • Proficient in Statistics and Machine Learning from both theoretical and applied perspectives.
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, SAM) and experience in curriculum development is highly valued.
  • A good sense of the relevance of academic data science to industrial applications.
  • Lead by example as a data scientist, to be an excellent role model for our internal staff, customers and resellers.
  • Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training.
  • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, communicate tasks to mobilize teams and manage projects through to completion.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
