Digital & Technology Solutions (Data Analytics) Degree Apprenticeship

The BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions (Data Analytics) Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship has been introduced at Ocado Group to develop well rounded Data Analysts with a specialism and knowledge of the cutting edge technology created by Ocado.

Ocado Group is putting the world’s retailers online using the cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT (Internet of Things). We develop the innovative software and hardware systems that power Ocado.com, the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer as well as the global ‘Ocado Smart Platform’. With everything from websites to fully autonomous warehouses that we design in-house, our employees need to be specialists in a wide range of technologies to help drive our business.

This Degree Apprenticeship is within Ocado’s Client Services division. Client Service’s mission is “to support and maintain Ocado’s platforms wherever they are deployed”. Supporting our clients around the world in a consistent way is essential to our long-term relationship with them; and to our commercial success. The Client Services teams provide all of our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) clients with wide-ranging remote and local support for their platform; so they can deliver their retail customer promises every day.

About the Degree Apprenticeship

This 3-year programme, accredited and delivered in partnership with University of Hertfordshire will help you develop the skills to analyse and then make sense of large, complex data. This is developed through specialist modules such as Programming, Models and Methods of Computing and Platforms for Computing; alongside “on the job learning” which will enable you to put these skills into practice.

This degree apprenticeship programme is focused on learning and development whilst also giving you real-life, impactful work when you are ready. You’ll receive tailored on-the-job training from a supportive team alongside the academic study from the University of Hertfordshire.

Find out the full details of the standard you will be enrolled on here.

Your Learning and Development and Your Role

At the end of this programme not only will you have achieved a level 6 apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions (Data Analytics), you will also have gained a huge amount of CV building experiences, commercial knowledge and soft skills on top.

You will have teams of people around the business to support you in achieving this. Your manager will be your main point of contact. They will work with you daily, support you on tasks and help divide your time between study and work-related activities. The Emerging Talent team will look after you from a programme perspective. They will be organising regular Learning & Development sessions, social events and employability workshops. Beyond this, Ocado Group has Mental Health First Aiders, Listening Champions and HR Business Partners that are always on hand to support in any other way.

20% (1 day a week) of your time on this programme will be solely dedicated to the learnings from your course, with the other 80% (4 days a week) being focused on practical learning and application of skills. During this course - if restrictions permit - there will be occasions where you will go to the University of Herts campus for contact time with lectures and your cohort. This course also involves a blend of virtual learning material too.

Consequently, you will establish the skills such as basic computer programming, data modelling and analysis skills.  You’ll also develop excellent communication skills, being able to articulate clear insights into complex data to key stakeholders.
