Are you interested in working with the teams that developed the Kindle, FireTV and Alexa? At the Amazon Devices and Service (DaS) Finance organization, we are expanding our technology team, and are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer (SDE) to play a leading role in the architecture, design, implementation and deployment of large-scale software systems.
DaS Financial Technology team develops and maintains a suite of applications and vast data infrastructure to support them. Finance professionals and consumers of financial data in other organizations use these applications to gather, access and analyze their data, apply financial modelling, extract business insights to take financial and operational decisions and perform various other functions crucial for running fast-growing Amazon's devices business.
As a Senior Data Engineer you will be leading the charge in developing next generation software that would help finance team with data analysis and business decisions. You will work with a wide range of data technologies (e.g. MySQL, Redshift, EMR. etc.) and stay abreast of emerging technologies, investigating and implementing where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
· Design, implement, and support applications that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information addressing stakeholder needs.
· Interface directly with stakeholders, gathering requirements and owning automated end-to-end reporting solutions.
· Partner with analysts, data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and software development engineers across Consumables org and Amazon to produce complete data solutions.
· Investigate and implement new big data technologies to solve business problems where appropriate.
· Participate in developing technical strategy for turning data into actionable information.
· Develop complex queries for ad hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.


Basic Qualifications


· 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
· Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
· Experience in SQL
· BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
· At least 5 years of experience with SQL, Schema design
· At least 2 years of experience with a high level language preferably Python
· Good operating knowledge of UNIX systems
· Familiarity with unix tools like shell, awk, sed
· At least one full life-cycle project experience in each of following responsibilities: 1)Design and develop systems for processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities of data with complex relationships. 2) Database modeling for structured data sets having high volume and variety. 3) Creating SQL scripts for one or more of Redshift, MySQL, Oracle

Preferred Qualifications

· MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience with Tableau or any other visualization tool.
· Experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, data mining, financial analysis, and demand modeling
· Strong analytical skills, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with passions on
· Good understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
· Software development background in SQL, NoSQL Databases, Big Data solutions.
· Experienced in using an iterative process such as SCRUM to deliver engineering projects; experience in continuous improvement to development process.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, ranging from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems and all points in between
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience architecting systems on AWS platform and service-oriented architecture.
· Effective customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet timelines with optimal solutions.

We are open to consider candiates in Seattle who would like to continue working from Seattle.
