Data Analyst Intern
Tysons Corner, VA
This role offers an undergraduate or graduate student an outstanding real-world introduction to commercial threat intelligence, one of the fastest-growing parts of the Information Security market.
Recorded Future is a guardian of the internet. We defend against cyber attacks by analyzing the open web, deep web, and dark web. Our harvesting pipeline reads over 800,000 web sources and structured data feeds, and our real-time multilingual natural language processing technology takes that content from raw text to alerts and visualizations in minutes.
Data Science Team takes ownership of this unique dataset in support of our clients. We implement crucial harvesting capabilities, manipulate our data structures to obtain solutions and insights, and explore new use cases and capabilities for the data. The chosen candidate on the Data Science team will support the Recorded Future Public Sector group.
We’re looking for smart and ambitious people with a strengthening engineering foundation and a quantitative mindset to help us take this on. In this role, you will implement new techniques for extracting high fidelity information from our vast collection of data, and what you help build will become part of our Threat Intelligence product to help our Public Sector clients stay protected. You will join a team of motivated people working on a tough problem, and help us shine a light into the dark corners of the internet.
You will learn:
- From co-workers with decades of experience working in a wide variety of fields - everything from globally recognized tech-entrepreneurs to ex-intelligence Agency vets, to Ph.D.’s in advanced sciences
- About the field of cybersecurity in the public sector industries.
- About the field of Machine Learning and how we utilized massive sets of data to power our product
Required experience and skills:
- Technical education: Working towards BA, BS, or MS in Computer Science or related discipline, with a strong academic record.
- Python Programming: some experience or equivalent academic background in data processing using Python is preferred.
- Data skills: Excited to work with large, complex data structures. You love working with heterogeneous data to answer real human questions, and you want to learn how to write the code that makes that happen.
Excellent communication: Your clarity of thought is always apparent in your crisp and articulate emails, Slack chats, phone calls, and in-person conversations.
Why should you join Recorded Future?
