Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role
Fasten your helmet and climb aboard if you’re ready to be our Machine Learning Engineer. In this role, you'll be an integral player within the GoFinance team based in Singapore. You'll help ensure that the Data Scientists in the various GoFinance sub-teams have all the resources they require to achieve their goals, and employ your stellar software engineering skills, machine learning knowledge, and deep understanding of data science in efforts to productionize their work. Your efforts will directly influence the performance of our Machine Learning/ Data Science models and its compliance to the governing bodies.

What You Will Do

• Manage data science infrastructure to streamline model development and deployment
• Define and build scalable data pipelines that enable data scientists to build better models
• Implement cutting-edge, big-data frameworks to support batch and real-time jobs
• Identify possible bottlenecks in the system and perform optimizations
• Build dashboards and models, and deliver insights to support business analytics
• Monitor and provide support to our infrastructure and production models
• Mentor team members via code reviews and knowledge sharing

What You Will Need

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with large-scale systems in data science / software engineering
• Ability to write clean and structured SQL, Python and Shell programs
• Experience in infrastructure, including Cloud Computing, Linux OS, Networks, Docker, RDBMS and NoSQL Databases
• Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
• Experience serving real-time, production-level machine learning models
• A self-driven attitude with a strong sense of ownership; ability to work independently to solve problems and develop solutions
• Excellent communication skills (English is required)

About the Team
Our GoFinance Data Science team consists of 8 Data Scientists based in Singapore and Indonesia. We oversee all things related to financial services within Gojek, working particularly closely with colleagues in GoPay. Specifically, we build models to predict the adoption, churn, credit scores and pricing on loan applications to further advance financial inclusion of Gojek's users.
Most recently, our team figured out how to handle requests for credit model simulations by utilizing cloud-based containerization and cache technology to reduce redundant computations and handle unpredictable burst requests at a low cost. Right now, the big question we’re trying to solve is: How can we better adapt our work to support expansion across different sectors and business scenarios?
While our team is based all over the region, we’re a tight-knit group who are bonded by two things: utilizing digital transformation to aid the unbanked, and aligning personal development with technological offerings. Our weekly conversations range from market campaign optimizations to state-of-the-art engineering stacks.
