Senior Data Scientist – Kroger Precision Marketing (P3186)


Kroger Precision Marketing (KPM) powered by 84.51°, is a leading retail media advertising 
solution. KPM closes the loop between media exposure and store sales by using first-party 
purchase data to make brand advertising more addressable, actionable, and accountable.

As Senior Data Scientist – Kroger Precision Marketing you are joining a community of data 
analysts, data scientists, and software engineers helping enable our mission of creating 
personalized and valuable experiences for shoppers. In partnership with groups across KPM, 
you’ll have the opportunity to bring ideas to life with unique, creative, and innovative solutions. 
Our team is dedicated to illustrating the power of reaching Kroger customers throughout their 
path to purchase, and we do this with applying best-in-class science and technology to our wealth 
of exclusive first-party data. This role is directly responsible for building proof-of-concepts and 
enabling partnerships entirely unique to KPM. You will be hands on with respect to the analysis 
of media using a robust retailer database of 60MM households and the full suite of 84.51° 
technical and visual tools (such as Spark, Python, R, PowerBI) to create real value for our 
customers and shoppers alike. 


Responsibilities: 
 Partner with the Self-Serve Offsite and Managed Service Portfolio teams to: 
o Vet new media partnerships specific to targeting and measurement capabilities. 
o Optimize performance of existing media placements. 
o Deploy and automate sciences that will ensure Kroger’s digital touch points are 
relevant and meaningful. 
 Build and deliver customer insights and campaign reporting for new partnerships and 
offerings. 
 Scope, develop, and execute custom analyses to answer key internal and external 
questions. 
 Become educated on our data assets, measurement methodologies, and analytic 
capabilities to aid in informing others. 
 Evaluate existing and new science methods for suitability for specific partnerships and 
programs. 
 Partner with engineering and platform teams to build data pipelines, create new analytic 
methodologies, and bring them to scale within our media measurement platform. 
 Be a data science / analytics ambassador to our clients and partnerships. 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, analytics, economics, marketing, 
or related discipline. 
 Minimum 2+ years of experience accessing and manipulating large datasets via programming 
languages such as Spark, Python, or SQL. 
 Minimum 2+ years of experience working with partners across product management, go-to-market, 
and software engineering to develop and scale new features and enhancements. 
 Experience in digital media, advertising analytics, or ad technology strongly preferred. 
 Experience deploying emerging technologies and sciences to solve business problems 
strongly preferred. 
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills including excellent verbal, written, 
presentation, storytelling, and consultation skills. 
 Data visualization experience and ability to present complex findings and technical 
solutions to non-technical audiences. 
 Business acumen and ability to highlight the business impact of an analytical result. 
 Excellent attention to detail, organization skills and ability to work in a collaborative 
environment. 
 Natural curiosity that embraces change; willingness to explore new ideas and 
methodologies that may fail.
