ABOUT THE JOB:

The Research Analyst is a vital part of the ConsumerAffairs content team, helping to collect and analyze data and identify trends to assist with content strategy and creation. This role combines data science, digital PR, and brand journalism. Main duties include creating data collection tools, analyzing data sets, suggesting story ideas and presenting findings to the Deputy Editors, Managing Editors, and Chief of Content. Working closely with a Digital PR Specialist, you will gather, organize, and analyze data to create visually appealing content such as infographics, maps, and interactive graphics. The goal is to pitch these pieces to journalists and publications across industries, driving organic and referral traffic while increasing brand awareness.

You will analyze publicly available data, and scrape and compile additional datasets to assist writers and Digital PR Specialists in crafting compelling stories on various topics. We are looking for someone who is excited about transforming data into engaging stories and collaborating with designers on meaningful visual illustrations. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, effectively communicates data insights, and understands how to create viral and newsworthy content. Curiosity, creativity, analytical skills, resourcefulness, and self-motivation are crucial for success in this role.This is a remote, full-time contract position.

RESPOSNIBILITIES:

  • Conduct data collection and analysis, and seek out new data sources and methods of research
  • Identify trends, patterns, and other data-driven details for the editorial, digital PR, and SEO teams to use in content creation
  • Pitch data-driven article ideas
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to elevate our data visualization onsite
  • Write articles and methodologies as needed
  • Create and maintain data collection tools and instruments to include the most current, accurate information
  • Help build and maintain dashboards and reporting as needed
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner and demonstrating respect for others.

Requirements

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Degree in Statistics or relevant field or equivalent experience

  • Experience designing data collection instruments using Google Sheets, Excel or other tools
  • Experience conducting research and data collection
  • Experience with programming language that facilitates data analysis (e.g., Python, Tableau)
  • Experience with business intelligence software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Ability to identify trends and patterns within data sets
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make actionable recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ideate content within growth verticals and collaborate with DPR and content
  • Build and contribute to a list of data sources for upcoming stories
  • Help scale content that resonates and help create Q3 and Q4 content calendar
  • Meet defined production goals consistently by Q3
  • Start pitching new ideas for data sources and content ideas in Q3

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Location: Remote/ Tulsa
  • Frequency of travel: Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training and/or conferences
  • Light physical activities and efforts required in working within an office environment
