Within AWS, the AWS Finance, Analytics, and Science Team is looking for a Data Scientist Leader to manage our team of data scientists. You will manage a team that provides predictive and optimization insights to the AWS sales organization, including actionable recommendations to address business questions and opportunities. You are a sophisticated user of advanced quantitative techniques and an expert at communicating insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication. In addition, the leader must be able to hire, develop, and mentor a team, and oversee a large portfolio of strategic projects.
Major responsibilities include:
· Applying statistical or machine learning knowledge to address sales-related business problems spanning a wide range of topics.
· Presenting results in a way that answers business questions, increases sales productivity, or improves sales performance.
· Communicating findings and recommendations, both verbally and in writing, to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.
· Hiring and developing a team of data scientists.
· Master’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operation Research, Economics or a related quantitative field.
· 10+ years of industry experience in data science or related roles.
· Expertise in data querying languages (e.g. SQL) and statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, Python).
· Excellent quantitative modeling, statistical analysis, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain your analyses and recommendations to both technical and business audiences.
· Demonstrated success in hiring and managing data science teams.
· Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and deliver results.
· Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of projects and earn the trust of business stakeholders.
