Team Summary

Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is Visa's consulting division, serving Visa's clients (including card issuers, acquirers and merchants) and solving their strategic problems focused on improving performance and profitability. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, payments, data analytics, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA drives high impact and tangible financial results.

The individual will be part of VCA Data Science geographic team cluster of Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia (IPVMC) markets, and will be responsible for driving data science engagements with Visa's clients in Philippines and supporting end-to-end delivery. The team is involved in a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions to our clients, that address unique challenges in areas such as strategic growth, profitability, risk management, digital strategy and portfolio management.

What a Data Science Senior Manager, Visa Consulting & Analytics does at Visa:

The Data Science Senior Manager will be a member of VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific and will report to the Head of Data Science overseeing IPVMC cluster. The position will be based in Visa Philippines, Makati office.

The individual will be accountable for driving the design, development and implementation of analytics-driven strategies as well as high impact solutions for Visa clients. He/she will bring in a strong background in data science to solve complex problems in the domain of banking & payments , and unlock business value for Visa and its clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define detailed scope of work and solution methodology, design and create data solutions and/or models using client data, Visa data or 3rd party data by leveraging appropriate tools and techniques
  • Clearly communicate data insights, findings and recommendations, drive deployment and implementation of solutions, as well as track impact
  • Ensure consistency, standards & quality control of data science work, with all project documentation up to date
  • Actively seek out opportunities to innovate and create new offerings by using data fit for purpose to the needs of our clients
  • Enhance existing data science techniques by promoting new methodologies and best practices in the field
  • Promote thought leadership in the data science domain and build intellectual property through innovation
  • Effectively interact with clients and manage internal/external stakeholder communication
  • Mentor, guide and supervise data scientists in the project team

Projects you will be a part of:

As part of VCA Data Science team, you will have the opportunity to work on strategically important projects for Visa and its clients. The scope of work may include, but is not limited to –

  • Working with issuer clients to assess opportunities using data across cardholder lifecycle, conduct gap assessment and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Business development and involvement in client pitches, to bring in strategic thinking that puts together a compelling proposition on data-driven solutions to help Visa win client projects and deepen partnerships
  • Build models/segmentation analysis/dashboard solutions and ensure clients find value to take action such as running marketing campaigns to drive payment card activation and usage, changing policies or processes, launching new products, opening new channels, among other things.
  • Provide thought leadership and analytics advisory to clients in the face of changing regulations and market landscape impacting business revenue streams

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

What you will need:

- Degree (Masters or Ph.D. would be an advantage) in Quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of professional work experience in applying statistical solutions to business problems
- Hands on experience with data analytics/programming tools such as SAS/Salford SPM/Hadoop/R/SQL/Python/Hive, and a working knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem
- Proficiency in statistical techniques: Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting, Linear & Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Markov Chains, Support Vector Machines, Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, Factor analysis, etc
- Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and managing multiple and concurrent analytics projects with diverse cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong internal team and external client stakeholder management with a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, including strong oral and written capabilities
- Self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to progress on multiple priorities concurrently
- In-market experience and/or knowledge of local language, culture as well as industry regulations

What will also help:
- Strong understanding of payments and/or banking Industry including consumer credit, consumer debit, small business, commercial, co-brand and merchant
- Strong hold on MS Excel and PowerPoint
