What Is Aspirion?

Aspirion helps hospitals and other healthcare providers get claims paid correctly by insurance companies, enabling providers to dedicate more resources to patient care and lowering the financial burden on patients. As a tech-enabled services business, Aspirion is investing heavily to embed user-centric design, automation, and machine learning into Compass, our proprietary internal workflow platform supporting the operations of multiple service lines.

What Do We Need?

We are building out our Machine Learning team to accelerate our workflows, support better decision making, and enable our operations teams to focus their time on higher value work. As a Senior ML Engineer, you would be responsible for building machine learning models and related infrastructure on our Azure data platform to help us accelerate our business drivers and create more value for clients. Additionally, you would work closely with the CPO and ML teammates to build out our data science / machine learning function.

Responsibilities

What Will You Provide?

• Responsible for collaborating with our Machine Learning team to solve data science problems and build ML models and related infrastructure, including data pipelines, data stores, APIs, and appropriate monitoring and alerting on our Azure data platform
• Collaborate with CPO on Aspirion’s overall ML and data strategy
• Work with relevant product squads to deliver ML models and other technical components required for specific product initiatives that include machine learning elements
• Help design a data architecture that supports our ML needs including exploratory data analysis, training data management, and model monitoring in production
• Work with the Product team to prioritize opportunities based on value, effort, risk, and alignment with Aspirion’s enterprise strategy and goals
• Establish baselines for key infrastructure operational metrics and align opportunities to metric-driven outcomes
• Team with designers, engineering leads, data scientists, business SMEs, other product managers, and key stakeholders to win as a team
• Contribute to a culture of psychological safety, empathy, and excellence within the ML team and product squads

Professional Competencies

• Data science, including exploratory data analysis, data processing, and machine learning
• Supervised and unsupervised techniques, especially related to NLP
• Deep learning and generated language embeddings
• Data engineering to support ML teams including ETL pipelines, SQL and NoSQL database management, data lake and data warehouse design, job scheduling, monitoring, and alerting
• Data architecture and domain-driven schema design
• Fluent in Python, SQL, Command Line tools, and other relevant data engineering languages and frameworks
• Ability to design data systems that meet relevant SLOs for reliability, performance, and other non-functional requirements as needed based on the project
• Deep familiarity with cloud-based data engineering practices on one of the major cloud providers with a preference for Microsoft Azure and Databricks
• Experience with serverless architectures and containerized environments
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and modern DevOps and DataOps practices as they relate to data engineering

Education And Experience Qualifications

• 7+ years in a Data Scientist / ML Engineering role
• 2+ years in a working with unstructured text data
• Bachelor’s degree
