Senior Data Scientist- Marketplace

About the Role
They say no man is an island - a notion that holds particularly true for this role. As our Senior Decision Scientist, you will be making ambiguous decisions with models through various statistical techniques to help pilot our next steps forward. You'll take the wheel in utilizing various quantitative techniques, such as Machine Learning, Optimization, Simulation, and Bayesian Techniques, to drive asymmetric values for our business at Gojek. The folks over at the Data Science Platform team will be your companions during this ride, as they help to bring your models to production. Best yet, you’ll have ample opportunity to flex and hone in on your skills in ideation, research, and building prototypes.

What You Will Do

• Design and analyze experiments
• Perform exploratory data analysis using SQL and R/Python
• Present interesting findings to business stakeholders to drive business and strategic decisions
• Build self-serve data products such as dashboards and tables to reduce time to insights
• Perform advanced analytics when needed (such as building machine learning models using R/Python or data web apps using Shiny/Dash)

What You Will Need

• At least 5 years of practical experience in SQL and R/Python
• Prior experience with applied statistics, experimental design and ML (there will be a technical phone screen to test you on this!)
• Bonus points for prior experience with customer lifetime models, marketplace supply/demand or causal inference methods for campaign effectiveness
• Able to tell a coherent data narrative using visualization tools, and set best practices in data visualization to convey a product insight through impactful graphs
• Proven ability to recognize business needs; able to communicate with multiple stakeholders including PMs, business and operations
• Able to balance attention to detail with swift execution

About the Team
Our Data Science team consists of over 10 Data Scientists based in Bangalore, India.
Our main responsibility is to build data products for ride-hailing, logistics, food delivery, and payments. How does one achieve this, you may ask? By leveraging on Machine Learning. From selecting the right driver to dispatch, to dynamically setting prices, to forecasting real-world events, to processing the hundreds of millions of orders per month across more than 20 products - all this is driven by Machine Learning. We are working on several projects now, including one about how we can strategically position our driver-partners to improve our customer experience. 
As a team, we’re concerned not only with the growth of the company, but each other’s personal and professional growths, too. Along with keeping fit (via badminton and table tennis), our team bonds over our shared love of hiking.
