Position Overview:

Blue Orange is seeking a Data Engineer to join our team and help us build and maintain a modern data stack that supports our data-driven decision-making and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data analytics and quality and a proficiency in SQL and modern data technologies. The candidate will be able to extract business requirements, develop and test data pipelines, and ensure data quality and reliability. The candidate will work with AWS, DBT, SQL, and CUBE to create and manage data solutions and collaborate with the backend/frontend development team to integrate them with our web applications.

This is a full-time fully remote position for Latin American-based applicants within +/- 2 hours of Eastern Standard Time Zones (NYC). Resume must demonstrate professional English ability.

Responsibilities

As a data engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and maintaining a modern data stack using AWS, DBT, Snowflake, Airbyte, and Cube
  • Extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources such as PostgreSQL databases, APIs, and IoT devices
  • Developing and testing data pipelines and workflows to ensure data quality and reliability
  • Collaborating with the backend/frontend development team to integrate data solutions with NestJS and Vue3 applications
  • Documenting and communicating data engineering best practices and standards

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, and familiarity with other programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience with AWS cloud services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, Glue, etc
  • Experience with DBT, Snowflake, Airbyte, Cube, or similar tools for data modeling, warehousing, integration, and analytics
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, and knowledge of database design and optimization techniques
  • Experience with APIs and IoT data sources, and understanding of RESTful principles and JSON formats
  • Experience with NestJS and Vue3 or other frameworks for backend/frontend development is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work independently or in a team

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the requirements above, we would also like to see:

  • A master’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in Real Estate
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Experience with machine learning or data science techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, etc
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Docker, Kubernetes, etc
  • Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban

Salary: $5000 - $6000 USD per month
