About the role: 

As a data engineer, you’ll be passionate about working with data. You’ll be capable of ensuring stakeholders have access to the right data in the right time frames. You’ll work closely with our other data functions and look to enrich the capabilities of those teams.

 A day in the life of our Data Engineer

  • Design, create and maintain our data warehouse ensuring data quality and capturing of all key sources
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in data systems.
  • Create and maintain ETL jobs and data pipelines to our data warehouse and between key systems
  • Create, execute, and document unit test plans for ETL and data integration processes and programs.
  • Monitor and ensure all scheduled imports and loads are executing and delivered on time with no issues.
  • Document data mappings, data dictionaries, and processes as established standards for data governance.
  • Translate detailed business requirements into optimal database and ETL solutions.
  • Diagnose complex problems, including performance issues, and driving to resolution.
  • Address performance and scalability issues and perform necessary capacity planning to meet new business initiatives.
  • May act as a subject matter expert to provide guidance and support to other technical professionals.

Who We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related data functions
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field
  • Experience building, deploying, and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, models and data sets.
  • Strong relational data modeling experience.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding optimal data pipeline architecture for production applications through ETL, APIs, and event driven architecture.
  • Experience in creating technical design and implementing ETL solutions.
  • Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors).
  • Excellent problem-solving, team, and time management skills.
  • Experience with ETL design and development using tools such as Talend, Informatica, SSIS, etc.
  • Experience with SQL, and query optimization.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, VBScript, Perl, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with Snowflake.
