As a Data Scientist at HolonIQ, you'll be part of the world's leading impact intelligence platform, powering governments, institutions, firms, and investors around the world to make informed decisions. This role focuses on the collection, cleaning and transformation of large and complex data sets, developing algorithms to extract insights, and communicating and presenting your findings to stakeholders. You'll work closely with a team of talented professionals striving to make a difference in the world, all while utilizing cutting-edge technology.


Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean and classify relevant data from a wide range of public sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Develop tools to parse and extract data from structured and unstructured sources, from large text sources, HTML to very large time series datasets and everything in between.
  • Develop and apply machine learning algorithms and statistical models to analyze and classify data, make predictions, and uncover hidden patterns or trends. Select the appropriate models, train them, and evaluate their performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the field, applying them to enhance the organization's capabilities
  • Take ownership and manage the end-to-end process of data science projects

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for making a difference in the world
  • Familiarity with data extraction frameworks in small and large scale environments and both low and high velocity approaches (eg from static sources to news and job postings).
  • Proven experience in data science, including statistical modeling and analysis, data mining, and data visualization tools.
  • Expertise in programming languages and databases such as Python and Postgres.
  • Familiarity with deep learning techniques and frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Basic familiarity with AI and ML APIs such as GPT-4, PaLM 2 and Bedrock
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field will be well considered.
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

You will work from our downtown Colombo office five days a week from 9 am until 5 pm. You’ll be issued with a laptop which can be utilized to work from home when approved.

Leave Entitlements

HolonIQ grants 25 days paid leave per year plus statutory religious holidays.

HolonIQ staff are required to work on full moon days falling on weekdays that are not already a recognized holiday. A day in lieu of every full moon day worked is added to an employees leave entitlement. The same would apply to other statutory holidays excluding religious holidays.
