Hours: 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday 

Contract length: 3-6 month internship 

This role is available for both Remote and or Hybrid working

You will be part of the first summer internship in the Digital Analytics area of Data at UW.  This is a 3-month internship with a start date available from mid/late June, open to people who are in their penultimate year of education (undergraduate/postgraduate) or have recently graduated.

This is a paid, fully-remote internship opportunity where you are able to develop experience as a Data Anlayst in a growing company with a modern ‘data stack’.  UW has a unique word-of-mouth business model via its Partner network but is complementing that through digital channels like paid search, retargeting and referral programmes.

About the role 

We are looking for a Data Analyst Intern to join our team. As a Data Analyst Intern, you will be responsible for working with product teams on getting more value from their user journey analytics and our efforts to develop a seamless customer experience. There is opportunity for a candidate to go deep in analytics applied to use cases such as digital marketing or customer experience.

You will work closely with stakeholders such as Data Analysts, Product Managers and Marketing Managers.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about applying statistical methods with a product mindset and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment. Digital Analytics is building a richer, event-based dataset with product teams at UW, which will enable us to unlock more advanced applications of machine learning. We are developing a diverse team of people who each bring their different strengths and approaches to our working community.

In this role you’ll work with product teams on getting more value from their user journey analytics (from both the web and app). You will report to our Head of Digital Analytics and work closely with stakeholders such as Data Analysts, Product Managers and Marketing Managers.

What you’ll do 

  • Undertake and disseminate analytics on user journey projects with product teams in specific parts of the Customer lifecycle or Partner lifecycle
  • Support analytics queries that tech & commercial stakeholders have with tools like Mixpanel, Looker and BigQuery
  • Data modelling - bringing a structure to raw data that is aligned with business requirements and objectives.
  • Maintaining a product mindset - what needs to be improved next?
  • Document and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About you 

  • You have an excellent understanding of statistical methodologies (e.g. statistical modelling, machine learning or econometrics) and are on track for a 2:1 or higher in a quantitative degree
  • You have an interest in solving data problems in areas such as: product analytics; measurement of the impact of marketing channels & growth channels
  • You are eager to develop skills in modern analytics tools like Mixpanel or Looker and our data warehouse BigQuery
  • You have strong organisational skills:
  • Previous experience with business intelligence tools or product analytics tools
  • Knowledge of a programming language like Python or R may be useful for analysis and automation of some tasks
