We are currently seeking a Data Engineering Intern focused on the Battery Performance. This position requires an intimate knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and a strong background in electrochemical data analysis. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Role

  • Developing efficient codes toward building comprehensive in-house data structures out of the exiting available big data 
  • Work closely with the battery modeling team members to analyze the electrochemical datasets and develop mathematical models
  • Collaborate with the battery modeling team members towards constructing mathematical models to help enhanse our understanding of Li-ion battery behavior and the experimental throughput
  • Work with the cross-functional teams to develop, implement, test, and maintain the developed models
  • Conducting the literature review and provide insightful summaries of the existing cutting-edge technologies for team members
  • Develop advanced deep learning models and tools for data analysis and optimization
  • Drafting the documents related to model and algorithm development and deliver the outcome of the projects based on the projects’ milestones 

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Li-ion battery and related cell chemistries.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Li-ion cell electrochemistries and mechanisms
  • Strong knowledge in the data-driven predictive model development with application in the energy storage systems 
  • Experience in writing efficient codes to analyze large data sets
  • Strong background in mathematical modeling and data analysis 
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of the projects

Advantageous

  • Experience with Python, R and MATLAB
  • Experience in building and maintaining databases
  • Strong understanding of algorithm design, optimization, and verification
  • Candidates with successful multidisciplinary work record or education background
  • 1+ years of experience and strong background in battery modeling

Education

  • Currently perusing a MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Applied Physics, Chemistry or related area
