At Alexa Speech, we are inventing the future of human-machine interactions. We believe voice is the most natural user interface for interacting with technology, and we are continuously pushing the limits of what our customers can accomplish through speech.
The Role :
As an ML engineer in the Alexa Speech team, you will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists, software engineers, and data scientists, who are pushing the frontiers of Alexa's speech recognition capabilities. You will bridge the gap between science and engineering, as you design, implement, and deliver software systems and train machine learning models. You will have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers in green-field projects. You will enjoy working in a culture of research and learning, having access to some of the world's best and brightest minds in the field of Natural Language Understanding to learn from.
Responsibilities :
- Design and build scalable infrastructure that enables training, evaluating and deploying machine learning models over vast quantities of data
- Design, build and deploy production software that is part of critical ML data and model pipelines.
- Identify and drive improvements to software efficiency, cost, maintainability, and quality
- Mentor less experienced engineers and continuously raise the bar for code quality, through code reviews and leading by example.
- Communicate effectively through well-written documents and verbally.
· 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or Keras
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in building large-scale machine-learning infrastructure
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and undefined problems.
- Strong sense of ownership, customer obsession, and drive
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
- Experience taking a lead role in architecting, designing, and building complex software systems
- Prior domain knowledge in natural language understanding / automatic speech recognition
