Lead Data Engineer ( Azure)

To meet the demands of our growing customer base, we are now looking for a Lead Data Engineer (Azure) to strengthen our team.

How would an Anchormen project and your contribution look like?

The Lead Data Engineer (Azure) is a dynamic role that puts you in the position of a technical lead responsible for implementing our solutions together with a team of engineers and data scientists. In this position you will be working with a focus on Azure and our Data Hub and Applied AI solutions.

After the pre-sales process is finished and our architects/consultants have created relevant high level technical designs and defined project deliverables, the building phase of our solution starts. You take the lead in detailed designs and implementation of the project. As a lead, you collaborate with your team of data scientists, engineers, project managers, and sales, making sure business value for our clients is always delivered. From a customer perspective, you are the technical point of contact responsible for progress, quality, and content. In addition to technically leading the project, you are still actively programming daily within the team.

The right person for this job has excellent communication skills to lead all the technical aspects of project delivery including presenting technical and business concepts to a variety of client stakeholders. When a customer faces significant issues, you step in to find the cause and suggest a solution. Next to that, you can influence and consult (providing options with pros, cons, and risks) around all key technical decisions during project delivery.

Last but not least, all of our leads love to share their knowledge, so they are usually involved in other tasks such as supporting marketing by preparing events & bootcamps, writing technical blogs, going to conferences, train our customers through our Academy programs and sharing their knowledge with colleagues in the form of Tech talks or round tables.

Requirements

• A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• You are based in NL.
• You already are a lead engineer and have experience with leading projects and lead a team of technical people
• You have hands-on object-oriented programming experience (Python/Java)
• You have experience in designing and building data applications / pipelines
• Excellent coding skills (clear coding, unit testing, CI/CD, gitflow etc)
• You understand the diverse ways of storing and processing data (file vs SQL vs NO-SQL, batch vs streaming, stateful vs stateless)
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer-centric attitude, proven team player and team builder
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills to include technical and business concepts.
• Speaking Dutch is a big plus
• Experience with 2 or more Azure cloud technologies and eagerness to learn more:
  • Storage: Blob / Azure Data Lake Storage gen 2, Cosmos DB, SQL
  • Processing / ELT: Databricks (Spark), Functions, Data Factory
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps
  • Streaming: Event Hub, Service bus
  • Containers: Container Instances, Web/API Apps, Azure Kubernetes
  • Networking: security groups, routing, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer-centric attitude, proven team player and team builder
