Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent to join our fast-growing and industry best Data and Analytics team. Geotab is seeking a Technical Project Manager who will be responsible for delivering Software Development solutions and coordinating all facets and launch deliverables associated with product releases in the Data Engineering department.
What you'll do:
The Technical Project Manager act in part as a product owner to new initiatives within the data engineering team. This role will manage day-to-day aspects of project management which includes leading Agile meetings (Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospectives, and Daily Stand-Ups). They will be the main point of contact for stakeholders, responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Be the main point of contact for stakeholders, responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects.
  • Facilitate and engage in requirement gathering, business analysis and technical conversations across departments.
  • Actively look for project risks and identify ways to mitigate.
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress of a project to all stakeholders.
  • Manage day-to-day aspects of project management which includes leading Agile meetings (Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospectives, and Daily Stand-Ups).
  • Work with the teams to define sprint goal, clarify sprint tasks and acceptance criteria, align them into a manageable work breakdown structure.
  • Support the team by proactively identifying and removing impediments and dependencies.
  • Oversee the quality of projects, manage testing requirements and coordinate product acceptance testing.
  • Manage testing requirements (coordinating with the Product Manager).
  • Coordinate product acceptance testing.
  • Promote TDD approach, consistently adopt best quality engineering practices within team.
  • Work closely with the Product Ops team prior to product launch to ensure all required product due diligence is satisfied.
  • Regularly connect with the Product Ops team for best practices and methodology.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related Technical field.
  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP) is highly valued.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development or software quality assurance is a must.
  • 2+ years of project management and/or business (system) analysis or other relevant professional experience is an asset.
  • Proficient at Test Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development
  • Strong experience with Agile techniques (i.e. User Stories, Estimation, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing)
  • Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
