Job Description

A data scientist intern can understand the complexity of data management. We are looking for a Data scientist intern to participate in developing best practices to align data across all systems. You will discover efficient ways to organize, store and prepare data with attention to details while making sure adherence of data policies.  The ideal candidate will have a decent understanding of databases and data analysis procedures. You will also be tech-savvy and possess good troubleshooting skills. The goal is to ensure that information is accurate, aligned and flows timely and securely to and from the organization as well as within. The Data scientist intern will be participating in adopting best practices of single source of truth across the organization. You will also work closely with lead data architect to manage and improve the enterprise data layer within the organization. 

Responsibilities: 

• Help analyze data for inconsistencies that may affect reports and data analysis, developing processes and controls to identify and take action on any inconsistencies 

• Help formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data 

• Help develop and implement efficient and secure procedures for data extraction and processing, paying attention to all technical aspects 

• Participate in extracting data from various sources (with APIs and SQL) and importing it into our data platform 

• Participate in establishing rules and procedures for data sharing with Report developers, business users and stakeholders 

• Support the team, reporting team and business in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and compliance standards 

• Assist with (Power Bi) report development 

• Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)  

• Support the development of a Data catalog / glossary together with the Data Governance Lead 

• Participate in efficient data modelling and building data apps 

• Participate in monitoring adoption of insights delivered to the business 

Qualifications

• English Language 

• Good analytical abilities 

• Excellent communication skills 

• Good understanding of ETL / ELT methodologies 

• Knowledge of Power BI, Data extraction/analysis tools (API’s)  

• Knowledge of (Azure) Data platform (Blob/Data Lake storage, SQL Databases, Power Bi Data sets & Data flows) 

• Knowledge of Cloud-based storage and analytic services tools (Microsoft, Snowflake) are a plus  

• Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)  

• Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies  

• An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
