Data Scientist - Risk

About the Role

As our Data Scientist for the Fraud team, you will play a critical role in advancing a comprehensive and high-impact risk management system that combines human and machine intelligence through predictive modeling for fraud detection and trust/risk scoring for users and transactions. With ample opportunity to hone in on your machine learning skills, you’ll get to develop data-driven methodologies to reduce fraud risks and abuse, and devise strategies to improve the user experience for the platform along the way.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, product managers, and validation teams across the risk organization
• Develop statistical/ML techniques to eliminate fraud and reduce risk on Gojek platform
• Build Prototypes; validate and iterate end-to-end solutions
• Be passionately involved in deploying and maintaining models in production
• Assist to deliver and improve business metrics continuously

What You Will Need

• A Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Statistics, CS or related engineering streams
• At least 3 years of experience in developing statistical/ML solutions
• Good understanding of Statistics/ML fundamentals
• Hands-on with the Python DS environment 
• Exposure to pyspark and cloud environments like GCP/AWS is preferred
• Capability to solve a well-defined DS problem end-to-end independently

About the Team
Our Risk/Fraud team consists of a lean group of data scientists stationed across Jakarta, Bangalore, Singapore and Bangkok. The safety of Gojek’s platform is our top priority; our efforts impact the user experience and financials, among many other things. We play a critical role in ensuring the most credible and reliable tech platform for our users, driver partners, and merchant partners in our ecosystem. Partnering closely with the Risk department, subject matter experts, product managers, and engineers, we work to deliver bold solutions to reduce fraud and abuse on the platform.
We’re a high-performing, tight-knit team who are committed to the safety and growth of the company, as well as each other’s personal growths and wellbeing. Pre-Covid, factions of our team would enjoy catching up over a round of drinks after work. However, with WFH becoming more normalized, we've been sharing our favorite ways to prioritize a healthy work-life balance at home. This includes ample “fun” Zoom calls where we discuss our latest tech-related findings we find interesting.
